Kerry: US will not accept North Korea as a nuclear state

By Elise Labott

Secretary of State John Kerry and South Korean Foreign Minister Yun Byong-se gave the North Korean regime a tough warning Tuesday about any provocations.

After an hour-long meeting at the State Department, the two men made statements. They took no questions.

Kerry said they spent most of their meeting discussing North Korea and that the United States and South Korea remain “firmly unified, ” and there’s “not a shred of daylight between us” on North Korean missile activity. The United States supports President Park Geun-hye’s pragmatic approach to North Korea, he said.

Kerry called upon Pyongyang to start down the path of fulfilling its international obligations and called on them to denuclearize.

“We we will not accept North Korea as a nuclear state, nor a nuclear armed state,” he said, nor would the international community. The United States remains fully supportive to the defense of South Korea with the “full range of U.S. military capabilities” and will “modernize to be prepared to face any threat. “

Yun called the latest developments on the Korean Penninsula very serious. He said he and Kerry reviewed recent events, agreed to enhance cooperation and intensify consultations, to maintain stability, and seek progress on the North Korean nuclear program.

“In the any event of North Korean provocation, we will both respond according to our joint posture and take measures which we deem necessary,” Yun said.

The meeting was long-scheduled and not related to former NBA star Dennis Rodman’s trip to North Korea.

Will US accept NK as a nuclear state once Kin begins the nuclear blackmail?

Heads in the sand just give NK time to enrich more uranium and perfect those long range missiles.

No dialogue is the worst sort of diplomacy.

Actually the nuclear blackmail (attempted) already started during NK last temper tantrum. It didn't work at getting additional aid from the West. I don't believe NK has working nukes. Detonating a nuke under a million tons of earth does not count. Every year they get closer though and within ten years they will have an open air detonation complete with that classic mushroom cloud.

NK already is a nuclear State. Kerry's words won't change that and he has nothing to offer except words

Some one needs to tell Kerry and Oblameless that North Korea is already a Nuclear state. And they haven't done a thing about it. While the North Korean problem has been brewing since the fifties, Oblameless let them go nuclear and stay nuclear.

Someone needs to warn Rodman that when he drinks with you execution from dear leader can follow. Send Rodman to the stadium the next time 80 Christians are executed, and make him watch with the other 10,000 people. forced to witness these atrocities. That ought to stop the power -FORWARD. This guy ought to be the poster child for any anti-drug campaign.

America is the root of all terror. America has invaded sixty countries since world war 2.
In 1953 America overthrow Iran's democratic government Mohammad Mosaddegh and installed a brutal dictator Shah. America helped Shah of Iran to establish secret police and killed thousands of Iranian people.
During Iran-Iraq war evil America supported Suddam Hossain and killed millions of Iranian people. In 1989, America, is the only country ever, shot down Iran's civilian air plane, killing 290 people.
In 2003,America invaded Iraq and killed 1,000,000+ innocent Iraqi people and 4,000,000+ Iraqi people were displaced.
Now America is a failed state with huge debt. Its debt will be 22 trillion by 2015.

How many countries has USA threatened with nukes? McArthur threatened to wipe out 20 Chinese cites during Korean War, and H.Clinton said ANY kind of Iranian attack on her beloved Isreal would end up with US "destroying Iran". Sabre rattling has always been part + parcel of US Foreign Policy.

They didn't take any questions at the end because Kerry was concerned about potential awkward and embarrassing moments if any of the reporters brought up questions regarding Shinzo Abe's recent visit to the WW2 war criminal shrine, given that he is hosting the foreign minister of South Korea.
