A top-secret court has renewed the authority of U.S. national security officials to collect telephone data as part of a surveillance program that was exposed by intelligence leaker Edward Snowden.
The Office of the Director of National Intelligence said it had decided to declassify and announce the program renewal, which occurs periodically but is never publicized.
Snowden leaked classified information about the program to media outlets last month and then fled the country. He has been charged with espionage.
His disclosure prompted outrage from civil libertarians, members of Congress and privacy groups concerned with the sweeping nature of the telephone surveillance and a companion effort that monitors e-mails.
It is truly a nice and useful piece of info. I am glad that you shared this helpful info with us. Please keep us informed like this. Thank you for sharing.|

Greetings! I know this is somewhat off topic but I was wondering if you knew where I could find a captcha plugin for my comment form? I'm using the same blog platform as yours and I'm having trouble finding one? Thanks a lot!

I think it is a good idea that a top-secret court has renewed the authority of U.S. national security officials to collect telephone data as part of a surveillance program that was exposed by intelligence leaker Edward Snowden.
Illegal court renews illegal programs authorized by illegal laws.
Not very surprising
Our government operates more like the communist chinese every day. Enough is enough, we want America back.
So CNN, why hasn't this been a top story, instead of what we have been getting. If the American people could have known before hand maybe we could have done something. Cant say you didn't know about it, RT News has had it on their top 5 list for over a week now.
They have been doing this for many, many years. They are not looking at individuals per say , but rather Habits, that are a signatory for certain behavior they are looking for in a terrorist. They are looking at protecting all of us. So let them see what color your underwear is. Let them see the porn you watch. Who cares.
If you have ever lived in another country, you know it does not get any better than America. Despite all the taxes etc.. They do their best to take care of us.
Secret courts and secret government agencies, now that sounds like the Nazis have invaded the USA.
Other than qualifing for the "Godwin's Rule" award – did you just awaken into a brand new world when you posted that or are you simply ignoring that "watching the world" INTEL-wise has been going on both within and outside the nation since it came into being?
Every government keeps tabs as best it can on those who would bring injury and harm both to it and to attack it and while some few nations/governments use such knowledge adversarily against its own people to maintain dictatorships or repressive regimes the vast majority (like the US) use it to protect its citizens.
Shame you choose to either not know the difference – or to ignore it.
In the illuminated manuscript above, one witnesses a deity devotee (with head bowed), who Sees All Evil, disseminating the comprehensive narrative of authenticity and ideals, which empowers the ecosystem that informs our existence! Through communion with deity, flows enlightenment that we are architects of extraordinary lives; transcending the banal! The deity halo, symbolizing reverence, submission and obedience, hovers above the devout devotee’s head, as the devotee (trusting one’s infallible feelings) Reports All Evil! With loving kindness, omniscient and omnipotent deity monitors us; bestowing safety, security and salvation:
deity observes, photographs/videos, analyzes, aggregates and, remembers for eternity:
–devotees’ vehicle license plate numbers and travel routes
–devotees’ activities in malls, supermarkets, restaurants, theaters, streets…
–devotees’ cell phone conversations/texts
–devotees’ internet browsing behavior and online comments
–devotees’ email content
–devotees’ cable/satellite viewing history
–devotees debit/credit card use,
for judgement day!
See All Evil, Hear All Evil, Report All Evil!

Let's have the NSA do something productive with all these phone calls - turn it over to the FBI and have the investigate and shut down the scam robocalls from Summer Bay Resorts and people claiming to be able to "fix" your computer and just want access to your information, and "Hi, this is Rachel at Cardholder Services" and so on.
Great comment!!! I agree!
I am disconnecting my land line phone for this very reason. Problem is, these idiots are now getting my cell phone number.
C'mon, guyz!1 We need to rage more about Trayvon Martin and who's on a magazine cover. How else will we get our freedumbs!

why are the people who run this country kept out of how their lives are bing run?
@tax payer:
Well, for starters no one seems to care. There is even only a little buzzing about it on the internet. So obviously the powers that be would think "Look they don't mind." So they roll out what they've always planned to do.
Secondly, The masses cannot effectively raise the millions of dollars to lobby congress to fight against this. Congress only listens to people that bring money before them. The defense contractors have no problem with this. It's just the sad truth.
I wonder just how much these judges were paid to do this. I bet it was a pretty penny!!! In Washington D.C., corruption reigns supreme without any doubt. Now I expect a lot of Tea Partying, right-wing idiots to blog in here to defend these highly paid "judges"! There goes our right to privacy!
why do you think US courts are run by Pakistani judges?
whatever
I very much doubt that TEA party folks would support this, in fact, I'm sure they don't.
Where is the outrage? I don't see it.
But, Oh noes! Obama said something about race relations!1 We must bring out the pitchforks!
These people don't care about things like this.
