Man arrested outside John Kerry's house

By CNN Staff

A man who apparently aroused the suspicion of security personnel outside Secretary of State John Kerry's home in Boston was arrested on Sunday on an alcohol-related charge, and authorities later found a pellet gun in his car, a Kerry aide said.

Glen Johnson, a Kerry spokesman, said members of the State Department's Diplomatic Security Service observed the man, who was not identified, taking a picture of a window at Kerry's house.

They requested help from Boston Police, who questioned the man and then arrested him on possession of an open container of alcohol. While searching his vehicle, they saw what turned out to be a pellet gun, Johnson said.

Kerry has mostly been in Boston for the past week after his wife, Teresa Heinz Kerry, 74, was hospitalized after suffering a seizure, according to doctors.

Kerry was visiting his wife at the Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital on Sunday.

They didn't arrest this guy for being intoxicated, they arrested him on an open container charge. One needent be drunk to possess an empty beer can or the equivalent. That said, nothing is mentioned in the story that makes it particularly news worthy. Proof of this is the eruption of The troll wars, which is the natural conclusion of having no real news story to debate.

Didn't realize it was a crime to photograph a house. And so what if the photo included a window, no one was home. Either the reporter failed to include relevant information, or the security forces over reacted.

What was unstated in the article; was the man in the car when "detained and questioned" or outside it? If outside, the cops would have had no right to search the vehicle without a warrant. And why has Mass. elevated the possession of a pellet gun to criminal status? Maybe because the pellet gun held more than 10 pellets? Because it was "loaded"?

Massachusetts may have been a founding member of this nation, but it now seems to prefer being a police state. Sad.

Between my dogs & firearms, I fear no man. The point is, he was on public property, and the "weapon" in his vehicle was a pellet gun. Last time I looked, it was not a crime to possess a pellet gun regardless it's capacity – then again I don't live in Mass. Ouch, another wingnut shoots from the hip, and instead of commenting on the story you call people names – very adult like (actually kindergarten, but I was being generous).

can we all at least agree that kerry is worthless as both a politician and a human?

Yes, he proved that while trying to be POTUS.

Only if we can agree that compared to Kerry you are an undistinguished, unsuccessful, pretty well worthless nobody.

Yes we can agree on that and that is the reason he is Secretary of State just like Hilarious Clinton!

Nope. He's the Secretary of State, and you are the guy who dresses up as Ronald McDonald and stands out front waving at cars. That's reality. He matters, and you don't.

There are not too many people Kerry. There are thousands upon thousands of inmates house in the Ma State Prison's that Kerry screwed over. I don't like the man, he can stay in the state. I don't like a state where they hunted down witches and brag about it in history. Can you imagine that? Got hat doesn't no exist, no one ever seen God or Jesus, but there brain washed thinking that is was ok to kill woman and children who they though was a witch in God's Name. What a great Society Ma was back then in Salem.

Martin was not a "criminal" when Zimmerman confronted him. Then details get pretty murky.

Yes you are right. The USA is not a Democracy really, it is a Dictatorship of a kind because you are always watched, listen to and spied on. What is the difference between the USA today and the former East Germany?

        July 15, 2013 at 9:04 am |
      • Ahab the Stereotype

" it is a Dictatorship of a kind because you are always watched, listen to and spied on." Nope, you have to do something like threaten the Secretary of State to get on their list. Then you will be watched on a personal level. Right now it's only server logs and you don't get on the radar unless you make a lot of crazy threats. So they are already watching you, I guess?

        July 15, 2013 at 12:53 pm |
      • Ahab the Stereotype

I actually know of this happening to someone, and they were at his house in thirty minutes. But as long as you aren't making explicit threats, nobody's going to lock you up for having an opinion. It's a free country unless you are planning a murder.

The guy is probably a deranged Glenn Beck fan, trying to "prove" that Theresa Kerry is secretly faking her illness, because John Kerry was on a boat. Or Something. So much right wing nuttery, so little time.
