George W. Bush: Snowden damaged U.S.

Former President George W. Bush tells CNN's Robyn Curnow that security programs he put in place protect civil liberties.

"I put that program in place to protect the country," former President George W. Bush said. "One of the certainties was that civil liberties were guaranteed. ... I think there needs to be a balance and as the President explained there is a proper balance."

I would love to be invited to the Bush Ranch/Library and just talk to the former President. How much did we spend in Iraq; $2.5 trillion maybe and Snowman hurt the country? Give me a break, Like Smedley Butler said; War is a racket!

If you sleep with your best friend's wife and Snowden tells him about it... Snowden isn't the one who "damaged" the relationship with your friend. You did.
The US "damaged" itself through its own actions. Snowden just happened to be the one to tell the public what we'd done.

Can you convince your best friend it's Snowden's fault you slept with his wife? If so... the White Hosue might have a job for you as communications director.

However much "damage" Edward Snowden has done, it is not a patch on the damage that George Bush and Barak Obam have done. The next president and best have his ducks lined up or he will be ostracized in short order.

Yes, Snowden damaged the reputation of the US as the moral leader in the world.
But he has given us the opportunity to make the system better by debating the merits and imposing some controls

I'm sorry but I'm a Democrat and just cringe at what my party has become. The left has become nothing but a bunch of Self Centered, Narcissistic whiners that want to regulate everything. They live in denial and blame everything on Religion and Guns. There heads are so wrapped up in Pop Culture and Fads that have live in a Fantasy land. People the world is not perfect and we need national security. I tell you this much the works would be a lot worst if the Soviets are Nazi's took over. Are we perfect no, do I agree with Bush on Iraq of course not. Snowden is a traitor and a coward. If he truly believed in his cause. He would surrender and face trial. No he is in for the popularity. IF you think differently then your a fool.

Well may you say Snowden has damaged the country G. W. but we the public are not as stupid as you think. You have done irreversable damage to the WORLD and to the US's reputation, that takes much longer to heal than a few leaks.

America is the root of all terror. America has invaded sixty countries since world war 2.
In 1953 America overthrow Iran's democratic government Mohammad Mosaddegh and installed a brutal dictator Shah. America helped Shah of Iran to establish secret police and killed thousands of Iranian people.
During Iran-Iraq war evil America supported Suddam Hossain and killed millions of Iranian people. In 1989, America, is the only country ever, shot down Iran's civilian air plane, killing 290 people.
In 2003,America invaded Iraq and killed 1,000,000+ innocent Iraqi people and 4,000,000+ Iraqi people were displaced.
Now America is a failed state with huge debt. Its debt will be 22 trillion by 2015.

Muslims have been fighting every since Mohammad died. It's sad Mohammad was a great man, the most influential in human history. He lived a poor life and saw injustice and violence everywhere. He united the Arab tribes with almost no bloodshed. He brought hope to the poor and respected women. His first wife was older by 15 years, had wealth, property and she was an equal. Mohammad shared household tasks, debated and even got into arguments. He did not re-marry until after her death. His Marriages afterward were Political and for Charity (Times were different). Radical Islam goes against every Mohammad fought for and believed in. So don't blame the United States for all of your problems.

What if the security program has an automatic self-defending meaning? Could it be said what Snowden has leaked were not all about what the U.S. wants to protect them in the first place? EU members have got hurt from the leaks. We don't know who will be the next.

@Google it,I have in years past and have commented on the relationships with the Bushs and BinLaden family while the Bushs both worked for Osamas father at Carlyle Group in NY..How Bush got intel from Clinton on supposid terrorists strikes statewide and their targeted cities and Bush just threw the intel away, then 9/11...How Bush as president went out of their way to protect Osama after 9/11 and how Bushs personally flew the BinLaden family members back to Saudi Arabia in their private jet and FAA records show their jet was the only private jet flying after air traffic was shut down nationally...How Osama was trapped in Bora Bora and Bushs called off an attack that would have eliminated Osama letting him get away, yah real patriotic family and can you say traitor in the Bushs family,I can!!

Bush saying Snowden damaged America is laughable. Snowden damaged the reputation of crooked politicians maybe, but he perhaps saved this nation and all it is built upon.

Lol, did Bush mean that Snowden damaged the nation like how Bush killed thousands of Americans in Iraq based on a lie? Did Bush mean Snowden damaged America like Bush did with the 2008 Great Recession? Did Snowden damage America like Bush did when he let thousands of his countrymen languish after Katrina? Did Snowden damage America like Bush and Obama did when they stripped freedoms away year after year? Did Snowden damage the nation like Bush and Obama did running trillion dollar defecits annually?

These clowns say we have to "balance privacy and security" yet these same fools can't even balance a budget!

The only ones damaged by Snowden's leaks are the corrupt high officials with something to hide. There's been many CNN articles pointing out the Bush-Obama spy program hasn't thwarted any terror activity, and is most likely not even being used to target terrorists. These clowns think they can convince the American people that Snowden is a traitor and that their skullduggery is good for America. Well guess what, the American people ain't buying it.

This coming from a man responsible for waging war against an independent State, under false pretenses.

In doing so, he is directly responsible for the unnecessary deaths and maiming of thousands of young American men and women in the Armed Forces. He dug the nation into a deeper debt hole, one which I doubt it will ever pay off, all to finance his personal animus of Saddam Hussain.

Mr. Bush, I hope history records you as being the greatest threat to American security and freedom throughout its history.
