If not for the fact that the actions of 6M or so Israelis oddly and disproportionately affect us in the USA, and even the world, I have no interest in hearing about what dire predictions will face Israel.

I just don't care about Israel. I don't care about Israel! Have I made myself clear?

    "Israel braces for the worst"

It was my perception during the Arab Winter some in the Israeli elite thought this was destabilising for the 'enemy' and a bit of self-satisfied smirking started to be reflected in the Israeli media. My view was when the dust settled Israel would be the focus of spring cleaning by a more radicalised Islam in power – for youth shouting freedom would be no match for the violent construct of Islam which wants a pre-medieval Freedom – so it has come to pass – as it will on the Syrian border – where various groups are making it their business to prove their anti-Israel credentials. It is not going to matter who gets into power in Syria the next on the list is Israel. It is a political necessity as all the Islamic regimes will have to refocus citizens gaze outwards to protect their own power in the short term because of their inevitable draconian incompetence. The US in trying to stave off such refocusing will try and bribe their way out but there is not enough resources left in the world to pay such a price that will be demanded.

Israel attacks although understandably necessary will increase the desire for revenge and with Israel's enemies knowing all too well the US cultural relativist ethical nihilists will when push comes to shove dither about hurting someones feelings will intervene too late to save Israel. I agree with ruffles but would not go as far as wwiii – not yet.

ruffles13 I believe is right to the extent there is going to be a conflict but limited to the middle-east initially at least (given certain egos will want retribution even if they have to wait for the right moment) I believe nuclear after Israel has been subject to a preemptive devastating strike – the US will respond too late (given the cultural relativists in power) but will do so in a way which leaves a message that humanity is finally over religion having any control of power over human outcomes.

It is a very high price to pay to realise a truth religion must be excluded from the public square to enable peace and security. One wishes it is going to be otherwise – but I do not think so.

israel attacks are not understandable since they are the instigators of arab conflict and oppression

Of all the conflicts it has been involved in since 1948, Israel has instigated none of them.

Fiscal Tiger, Israel doesnt start wars, it ends them. Even Hezbollah changed their tone after the last shalacking which they took privately and then said they dont want war with Israel. Its only a matter of time before Israel starts to stir issues in Lebanon forcing Hezbollah to pull back some of its forces to protect its bastions. This would be opportune for the opposition to help the west rid Lebanon of the Hezbollah.

Right a bunch of jews from Europe and Russia immigrating to a land that is mostly inhabitated by arabs and occupied by Britian then claiming it as theirs is not instigating a war.

The fact is all the countries (Except Israel) in the Middle East are Muslim and they hate us. It appears that Syria will bomb itself back into the stone age and the Sunnis and Shias will kill each other. Israel, our friend and ally, the only rational country in the Middle East will be last man standing.

Israel is dealing with a different Syria. A Syria with hypersonic cruise missiles.

BrahMos-II is a stealth hypersonic cruise missile currently under development and is estimated to have a range of 290 km.

The range of BrahMos II has been regulated to 290 km as Russia is a signatory of the Missile Technology Control Regime (MTCR) which does not allow it to help other countries to develop missiles with ranges above 300 kilometres. With a speed of Mach 7 it will have a speed double the speed of the current BrahMos missile, and it has accordingly been branded as the fastest hypersonic missile in the world

America is the root of all terror. America has invaded sixty countries since world war 2.
In 1953 America overthrow Iran's democratic government Mohammad Mosaddegh and installed a brutal dictator Shah. America helped Shah of Iran to establish secret police and killed thousands of Iranian people.
During Iran-Iraq war evil America supported Suddam Hossain and killed millions of Iranian people. In 1989, America, is the only country ever, shot down Iran's civilian air plane, killing 290 people.
In 2003,America invaded Iraq and killed 1,000,000+ innocent Iraqi people and 4,000,000+ Iraqi people were displaced.
Now America is a failed state with huge debt. Its debt will be 22 trillion by 2015.

if you think Americas invaded only 6 countries since world war II then you desperately need to learn your history. trying doing some independent research outside of corporate news. Also, Israel is preparing to defend themselves? this is a joke, Israel has attacked Syria 3 times this year. If they get attacked it is their own fault, they were asking for it. it seems like preparing to attack is a more appropriate and truthful answer.

The fact is that Syria attacked Israel on the first day of its independence 65 years ago and started a war that continues even today. Further, Israel used force against Syria this year ONLY in response to Syrian attacks on Israel. Still further, Israel did not and does not have any other option but to be prepared for the attacks coming from Syria and other Arab countries for as long as the Arabs are wiling the war to continue.

I believe you are correct. I can (off the top of my head) think of significant combat operations in Korea, Lebanon, Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Grenada, Panama, Iraq, Somalia, Bosnia, Pakistan, and Afghanistan. I'm surely forgetting many places. The list of covert operations is likely ten times that number. The humanitarian missions cover the globe – some were quite extensive. Yet.... we've had an 11-year war and only 1% of Americans are veterans.

Sources? You sound like some jihadist idiot who wants to blame the world's problems on the U.S. I really hope you are not an American, I would be ashamed to share the same nationality with you. You say America is the root of all terror? Where was America, then, pre-1777? Were we americans still the root off all terror then, even as Americans fought off oppressive and terroristic British troops? Were those individual British troops then terrorists, even though they were just following orders? Wait!?! What about the Nazis? Was that all American as well? Do you think the tribal laws of stoning a woman to death because of "committing" an act as simple as speaking with an unrelated man is not barbaric? Does that not inflict terror upon all women who are forced to live under such rules?

You are a naive and you are ignorant, "John Smith."

Yeah USA has trillion dollars of debt, but guess what – USA also has multi-trillion dollar economy. Let's see China and Europe average GDP is $5 trillion whereas USA has an economy of $15 trillion. Yeah USA will have $20 trillion dollar debt but by that time will also have $60 trillion dollar economy. A failed state is where you have one trillion dollar debt but only have a one billion dollar economy.

This reminds me the one and only state that (for some time) had no national debt at all, the Socialist Republic of Romania under President Nicolae Ceausescu and its thriving economy.

What is your real name, John Smith? How is your jihad going? Are you a Shiite or a Sunni? Either way, your true colors show through. How is life in the 8th century? You wanted it, you will get it. Last Sunni or Shiite standing gets nothing but death and the destruction of both sects

I don't see how Israel would be drawn into the Syrian conflict without being attacked unless they find a way to put themselves in play, I think though the bigger issue as time passes is that during the last election cycle, the president said that Iran was at least a year away from figuring out how to deliver a nuclear weapon. If this Syrian doesn't clean itself up before that time the middle east could see a heck of a lot more fireworks.

I went and looked up scenario's on what could happen and its a really Grim picture. But the end result is Middle East still fighting one another. Worst case also involves North Korea and some of the way it plays out is strange. Im not going to really get into it because its all speculation. There is something in the wind and its close at hand. Syria is not a real issue when compared to what might happen. But like I said its all speculation, just go cruise around the websites on war scenario's with Iran.

Not many people realize world war iii is very close. War with Iran would definitely mean a world war because it is the last independent oil producing country in teh region that the U.S hasn't already raided. Now a civil war with Syria that was started by rebels which are funded by the U.S, it's not hard to realize syria is one of irans greatest allies and that is why we are doing this. Russia will NOT let Syria and Iran fall without a fight. If russia gets involved so will north korea and china, something big is indeed coming.

@jomama,let the extremists in the middle east take themselves out,we'll just watch.More of a population cleansing than genecide if you know what I mean in all going at each other till no ones left. It's been brewing for decades with these egomainiacs in leadership over there and these mostly Muslim countries outside of Isreal are itching to do battle aka the Hatfields and McCoys type brawls with anything goes..Just stand back and just hope the ones you have money on comes out on top or we'll have more problems maybe not in our foreseeable future ...Just hope they're not ignorent enough to go nuclear then we'll have no one to worry about because they'll be nothing left but ashes to sweep up and who would be the chosen ones then, sure as hell not Netanyahus Isreal!!
