Iran installing advanced centrifuges ahead of talks

By Elise Labott

Iran has begun installing advanced new centrifuges at its main uranium enrichment site at Natanz that are capable of accelerating production of fuel for a nuclear weapon, a move that senior U.S. officials warned could jeopardize upcoming talks aimed at curbing Iran's nuclear ambitions.

The disturbing revelation comes as the "P5 plus one" diplomatic bloc of countries is preparing to offer a package of incentives to Iran to close its underground facility at Fordow and ship out its stockpile of uranium already enriched to a high purity level of 20%.

READ: Sources: Iran to be offered 'serious' incentive

"This can't help the talks," a senior US official said.

The P5 plus one bloc consists of the United States, Britain, France, Germany, Russia and China.

Last month, Iran announced its intention to use the new machines and last week said it was already beginning to install them. Officials said inspectors from the International Atomic Energy Agency found a significant number of the upgraded centrifuges installed when they visited the site days earlier. The finding is expected to be confirmed in an IAEA report to be released Thursday, officials said.

Experts said the new, advanced centrifuges will allow Iran to enrich uranium at a rate three to five times greater than their old machines, thereby increasing its stockpile more quickly.

"It's disturbing because they are sending a signal that they are trying to dramatically increase their enrichment capacity," said David Albright, president of the Institute for Science and International Security, a nonprofit group that informs about international security issues. "We have no way of knowing if they will work, but the worry is that Iran could sneak out and enrich enough uranium to build a bomb."

There are actually a number of details like that to take into consideration. That is a nice level to carry up. I provide the ideas above as general inspiration however clearly there are questions just like the one you deliver up where crucial thing will probably be working in trustworthy good faith. I don?t know if best practices have emerged round issues like that, however I am positive that your job is clearly recognized as a fair game. This isn't the 1950's, the global market would collapse and if we don't imediately go into a mutual destruction it will eventually happen if one nuclear missile hits a city. The world isn't stable enough for a nuclear attack.

Of course Tehran wants the enrichment for Nuclear weapons, its amazing they've been allowed to make it this far though.

Umm, the soviets shot down a south korean airliner cause they thought it was a spy plane. And they reason why the americans shot down the Iranian airliner was because a radar fire control system locked onto an american warship and the radar warning receiver said the source was coming from that airliner. I'm sure the americans wouldn't have supported Iraq during the Iraq-Iran war if the US embassy was never allowed to be over run by state backed protesters. ....Just so that you know.

israel does not have the means to go to war with a state that can defend itself. They don't have the training and technology for it. israel ran out of weapons twice just bombing Gaza civilians.

No country is required to adhere to it. ANY country can back out of the NPT with 60 days notification. The NPT is an agreement stating that international community will help another country with their peaceful nuclear program. Iran has not received any assistance and is likely to back out at some point.

You obviously have no grip on reality, Israel hasn't attacked any nation nor have they threatened to do so. No one is the least bit worried about Israel's nukes except those who want to destroy Israel. Israel doesn't have an ambition like Iran of destroying another nation. All Israel wants is to be left alone, and if they are left alone they will harm no one. That can not be said of Iran, they want to destroy Israel and have every intention of destroying Israel regardless of whether Israel ignores them or not.

Bringing up the USS Liberty demonstrates your ignorance and bigotry. Both the US and Israel investigated the incident and it was concluded that it was an accident that was mostly caused by the USA. The USS Liberty had been ordered to leave the region and we thought it had left the region so when Israel asked if it was our ship we said it wasn't. Egypt had a habit of disguising their war ships as US war ships flying US flags on them. Only bigots with a room temperature IQ still harp on about that.

Peter Zalewski, Jonathan Pollard, even the israeli PM was a watched criminal in the United States. According to the pentagon, israel is Americas spy threat number one in the middle east. US government fears them, yet feeds them at the same time.

Not sure what country you are from but take a look at the world. It's easy to blame the United States but the United States has nothing to do with what is going on in Pakistan, Egypt, Syria, Hezbolistan (formerly Lebanon), Iran, and North Korea. If bashing America is your game - you are on it. If understanding the world's issues and hoping for a future for your kids is on the agenda - open your eyes and close your foul mouth.

The world needs a consistent just governance. In the light of the Zionist AIPAC led fabricated dossier on Iraq WMD and pursuing illegal war sadly killing millions of innocent civilians and thousands of USA Personnel, any country not arming itself to teeth must anxiously be waiting for the same fate as Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan, Libya...
American and Iranian people must work together to get rid of fascist extreme groups that are warmongers like AIPAC, Al- Qaeda, Neocons..
American foreign policy and politicians must be working for interest of American people rather than Israel or any other state. It must have been humiliating for patriotic Americans to see during the last election and now with Senator Kerry and Senator Chuck Hagel nominations, the Zionist media and AIPAC line of questioning is to establish if they are pro-Israel rather than how much they care about USA interest or ensuring prosperity and jobs for ordinary Americans!

Its obvious neither side has any intention or motivation to reach an agreement on ANYTHING.. one problem though, the US has been bluffing about attacking Iran and Iran has basically called their bluff.. oops what r u gonna do now US.. nothing just add more useless sanctions.. US lawmakers know very well the sanctions have had NO effect on Iran's nuclear program.. they just want to get brownie points for jumping on the anti-iran bandwagon.. pathetic pathetic pathetic.. lets just go to war I think both sides are ready..

The mullahs and their puppets enjoy holding hostages. Whether its diplomats, reporters, hikers, protestors, former presidential candidates, or the world held hostage by centrafuges - its what they do best. As the morlaity police swarm, and the Basij Militia stomps, and the revolutionary guard rattles, and the great Islamic Experiment decays - we all pay the price.

Has Iran invaded another sovereign state?Nope...Has Israel invaded another state? Yes,Palestine where epic center of the fight on terror orginates from...How about the United States?US forces surrounding Iran from both sides while economically straggling the nation as well.It should be common sense like those gun advocates claim the necessity of a weapon for self-defense so it by all accounts its logical for Iran to pursue a weapon in order to keep at US and especially Israel from attempting to invade. The neo-cons made the same scare tactic against Iraq which if they did have wmd, we would have never invaded the country.

When iran took over the American embassy that was an invasion of another country as a embassy is considered to be the soil of the country it represents.
As you bring up Israel I suggest you read a little history on what happened in 48 when the arabs were offered the lions share of land but turned it down thinking they could just kill all the jews and keep all the land for themselves.
Well we know that the arabs got their heads handed to them and they have been crying ever since.
Do not believe the arab rewrite of history. The arabs in Israel did not even call themselves palestinians until the 1960's.
These arabs will never be happy until there are no jews in the area or they can rule over the jews in the area.

Second there is no proof of weapon of mass destruction plan. third Iran highest leader say that they dont want a nuclear bomb its against thier religion. but he said that if the country would like to have a nuclear bomb they would announce it to the world i never heard a country that is so honest and open about this issue like Iran, its very clear the Iran stand on this issue. Alright what should Usa do? start a war? no alibi to do so! make threats to Iran?any kind if threat or attack is not good for building relationship. Steven – The difference is responsibility, America does have thousands of Nukes at it's disposal, yet we do not use them. 2 Atom bombs were used to end the second world war, since then they have not been used. The idea that every country has the "right" to own nuclear weapons is a rediculous one, essentially what you're saying is like saying everyone deserves to have a .50 calibur machine gun, even the mentally disabled or mentally ill. It doesn't make sense, Not all Governments have shown the capacity or stability to own a nuclear weapon. Iran funds terrorist organizations Hamas and Hezzbolah are funded and armed in part by Iran... Not even the North Koreans fund terrorists... This shows the world that this Iranian Regime is not stable enough to own these types of weapons, They have stated in public forum that they want to annihilate the Jewish people... since they are willing to arm terrorists attacking Israel, what makes you think they won't give those terrorists a Nuclear weapon? This is one reason why Iran shouldn't own Nukes... they are unstable and incapable of owning such weapons.

NO MORE WARS! The Jewish state has ICBM nukes and openly threatens Iran, actually campaigns for war against Iran. Israel, not Iran, is the warmonger. Resolution lies with lifting all sanctions and compensating Iran for damages from the $$$ billions we will no longer be giving the Jewish state. An Iran with nukes would disrupt the Jewish state's brutish pursuit of invulnerability, territorial conquest and apartheid empire. Mutually assured destruction might actually make Mideast peace possible. NO MORE WARS!

So it is Iran that is the War Monger. They are the worlds largest supporter of terrorism and they have made it a national ambition to destroy the Nation of Israel. They have also stated their desire to inflict damages on the USA. Their soldiers march through their streets chanting "death to Israel, death to America.
