The commander of all Navy SEALS is sharply critical of claims attributed to a man called "The Shooter," identified in a published report to have been the SEAL who killed Osama bin Laden but felt mistreated by the military when he left the service.
Esquire magazine's riveting account of the 2011 bin Laden raid in Pakistan was based on an interview with the former SEAL, who was not named but complained about losing his health care coverage when he left the Navy last year.
He was short of the full 20-year career required to receive such benefits.
"Concerning recent writing and reporting on 'The Shooter' and his alleged situation, this former SEAL made a deliberate and informed decision to leave the Navy several years short of retirement status," said Rear Admiral Sean Pybus, commander of the Naval Special Warfare Command.
"Months ahead of his separation, he was counseled on status and benefits and provided with options to continue his career until retirement eligible. Claims to the contrary in these matters are false. That said, Naval Special Warfare and the Navy are prepared to help this former service member address health or transition issues, as we would with other former members," Pybus said.
The statement was made available to CNN by a military official who declined to be identified because it was not intended for public distribution.
The official said Pybus wrote it for members of the active duty and retired SEAL community after the Esquire article made headlines.
Pybus reiterated growing concerns by the most senior active duty SEALs that younger members are speaking out publicly about their experiences, which breaks with a tradition of silence about the secretive nature of their work.
Former Navy SEAL Matt Bissonnette also was criticized by his former commanders when he wrote the book "No Easy Day" about his involvement in the bin Laden mission in Pakistan.
"I am very disappointed with the few people who use their SEAL cachet for self-serving purposes, particularly through falsehoods and certainly when the safety and security of themselves and their active-duty teammates and families are put at risk," Pybus said.
"Most of our former or retired NSW members find a suitable second career without compromising the ideals of their active service-honor, courage and commitment. Most of our veterans with physical or mental health issues get some degree of health care, and we are actively pursuing even better options in this realm. I think we're doing the things that you would expect from a dedicated, disciplined and trusted force."
He also noted that the Naval Special Warfare unit has "bright and motivated people engaged in difficult, but satisfying, work."
They are very familiar with their compensation and options, he said, adding that SEAL and Coxswain operators draw hazard and danger pay and receive bonuses to re-enlist.
If they leave the service, he said, there are a number of programs aimed at easing transition or address health issues.
The Department of Veterans Affairs also disputed the claim that "The Shooter" had no health care access from the moment he left active duty.

I’m impressed, I must say. Seldom do I encounter a blog that’s both educative and amusing, and without a doubt, you have hit the nail on the head. The problem is an issue that not enough folks are speaking intelligently about. Now i'm very happy that I found this during my hunt for something relating to this.

Heard of the Tinderella predicament
Psychologists believe we are slowly losing our ability to flirt in real life because of our dependance on mobile dating apps and online dating sites
a long time ago, dating online was looked at with contempt and adam4adam gay dating a last resort for desperate singles. but yet, With technology evolving and the creation of dating mobile apps in our lives, A lot of singles have been successful finding love online. anyhow, Psychologists believe that the downside to the buzz of dating apps and sites has curbed social interaction. We now shy away from investing time in reaching people offline. While this may be partially true for some people, It not applicable to everyone believe individuals who have found love in the cyberworld.
she says, "I had a lot of reservations about signing up on a matchmaking site and was reluctant to post my profile as I did not want to get connected to random strangers. Little did I know that I would meet my husband to be online. He sent me a friend request, Which I grudgingly accepted. We started conversing, And became pals, But marriage did not enter the picture till a long time. Both of us were keen to accomplish our studies, And gain financial security before we walked down that road. It was only later that we decided that we wished to spend our lives together,
Michika pronounces, you can't say everyone you meet online is true to their profile description. are going to be those who want to con you. Stalkers and people and love rats are all present online. And while it makes you worried, paid dating sites and mobile apps also give you access to more people, throughout the world that you would never encounter in your immediate circle. The whole idea is to apply it wisely. It should be an addition to networking with people but never a replacement for social interaction.
She develops, "I know that a lot of people shy away from interacting with someone they consider attractive because they are introverts and are scared of being judged by someone they admire. here apps and sites help break that ice. Give you time to find that perfect opening line and to approach the person, You would certainly shy away from,
Don let the Tindrella issue take root
Seema Hingorrany, A clinical shrink, states, "The Tinderella Syndrome is now rampant in Mumbai. Manypeople are hooked online to see their lovers, collaborators and spouses. I see clients sometimes losing touch withreality on paid dating sites. People go online for such searches as they are looking for instant gratification. Many don even bother to meet the person in the real world, And chatting endures for months. Interpersonal contact is totallymissing in that dating style. While there is no harm meeting and interacting with someone online. You have to interact with someone face to face before you decide to take things further rather that get emotionally involved based on the limited interaction you have had online,
when you balance social interaction on and offline
professional Anjali Chhabria, says, "People find less complicated to chat rather that meet people personally as their own flaws and short comings are easily hidden. within, the initial fear of approaching men can be avoided. Women need not worry about being judged for approaching a man at a bar or a club. Also women have the liberty to make a choice from many suitable matches rather than just one. Women also feel well informed expressing themselves more freely online. When one is really buying relationship, They must balance between taking care of people online as well as meeting new people socially. Totally dependinging on online relations will surely lead women being single for longer as it may take time to get to know somebody online.

I think that a property foreclosures can have a major effect on the debtor's life. Property foreclosures can have a 8 to several years negative impact on a applicant's credit report. Any borrower having applied for home financing or just about any loans as an example, knows that a worse credit rating will be, the more tricky it is to obtain a decent financial loan. In addition, it may affect a new borrower's ability to find a respectable place to lease or rent, if that gets to be the alternative houses solution. Thanks for your blog post.

Carnival was a pioneer in the concept of shorter, less expensive cruises. Its ships are known for their Las Vegas-style decor and entertainment. The line calls its ships The Fun Ships, and there are a wide range of activities offered on board. Its trademark is the funnel, which is red, white and blue and shaped like a whale's tail. When contemplating retirement the majority of us seem pre-programmed to only consider the far reaching financial implications of never bringing in an income again! But the fact of the matter is that there are many more things to consider if planning on retiring abroad, not to mention the fact that many retirees overseas pick up odd jobs and part time positions advising and assisting other expatriates with their lives and businesses anyway!`

Uh hey bro bra, you got out before twenty. Duh!!!! Go to the VA like the rest of us bro. This dude has connections in the tier one community even after he is out. Network dude.
What do you expect? Our guvmint, schools and society at large force the idea of relative morals and ethics on children from grade school to graduate studies. We are told there is no foundation on which to base right from wrong. The Bible, which was a standard of this nation is practicly outlawed in public. thus we have evidence of a decaying culture and barbaric behavior, such as Wikki leaks and Abbu Grabbe , Fast and furious gun running, from the feds to drug kingpins in Mexico. former police killing their spouse and getting away with it. and i could go on. Wake up america!
Quite right, walter. The biggest evidence of what you said above is the current right-wing Tea Party Movement, composed of 10% right-wing fanatics and 90% of ignorant people who know no better! Also walter, did you noticed the absence of an antiwar movement similar to that of the 1960's? I did!
This is total news media BS. Reporters are just trying to find out the real shooter for terriorist so they can kill him for revenge and create more news.

Nobody believes Obama killed Osama Bin Laden, Osama been dead since before 9/11, Obama was just waiting for election time to bring the story out, So the killed him and dumped the body in the Ocean, what a bunch of BS, its funny how his android brainwashed followers believe the crap that comes out of his mouth, Obama is failing miserably at everything he does, he actually thinks he can disarm all americans, he is way to outnumbered, one day it will be him and his supporters in the FEMA camps
*facepalm*
You're what's wrong with the world
ANOTHER conspiracy theory??? Doesn't this get tiring to try to come up with time after time??? Was Bin Laden being hid with JFK and Elvis too???
I don't believe that you believe what you just posted. You are just looking for a reaction to validate your own existence.
A troll has got to troll.
Everything you said is incorrect
Somewhere a psychiatrist is missing a patient.
I love the smell of ignoramus in the morning...
Remember what Rambo said in the end of First Blood? "over there I was in charge of a million dollar piece of equipment, back here I cant even get a job washing cars...."
Only if your worthless before you go in.
I appreciate the sacrifices of our soldiers. Thanks!
Yeah He made a decision to stop a couple years short of retirement, so what? That was the whole point of the Esquire article.
In my opinion NAVY Seals should not have to serve a full 20 years to get retirement pensions. Your local congressman only serves you 2 years in an office and waving to people, and gets a full retirement package (100 percent of their income) and their children never have to pay back school loans. Most SEALS don't even make it the full 20 years because they are killed defending you and if they do make it to 20 years they only get half of what they made. SEALS should not have to wait 20 years if congressmen and politicians only have to wait 2 and do not fight for our country.
Obviously SEALS would be an exception, other jobs of the military should have to serve 20, but SEALS are different and other branches Special forces are different.
Why Should the SEALS and other SOCOM units be afforded to "retire early" Why not apply that to all Military personnel? Sure the average SOCOM solider, sailor, seemen, or marine may have done some special things, but not all of them fall into that catergory. There's a standard in the Armed Forces commuity that you do your 20 years and then you're elgible for retirement. You knew the risks comming into the services, especially if you later decided to join a SOCOM unit. Memembers of the Armed Forces face potential risks everyday, the do what they are told to do, go where they need to go, and most of them have spent the last ten years in harms way. So why is there an exception for SEALs and other SOCOM units but not the rest of the Armed Forces community? They face the exact same risk while deployed, often with longer deployments, and with less resources available.
I believe that you are misinformed on congressional retirement.
Difference is that Congressmen, like the people at the top of any organization, get to set their own salary rates, retirement packages, working hours and benefits. The workers know that is not how it works for the rest of us when we take the job.
Then ecery combat serviceman should get the same benefit...not just SEALS
I would agree with the Congressmen....they shouldn't have a lifetime pension PERIOD....but then our forefathers never saw these professional politicians taking a liking to the power and corruptness. They should have TERM LIMITS and no pension other than SSI along with the rest of America. You want more...401K or other savings just like the rest of us.
I would hope that the military has the sense not to send these men who were on the Bin Laden mission back into combat. They are far too valuable to risk like that. Imagine the propaganda loss if one were killed or captured? I'd also hope they have the good sense to take care of them when they are done with active duty. All of those guys should have good jobs waiting for them back home, with all the proper medals and honors.
You are mistaken about how Congressional retirement works.
First of all, they do not receive their pension after serving for two years. To qualify for their pension, they must serve a minimum of 5 years in office.
Secondly, their pension is not 100% of their income. In fact, their maximum pension is limited to 80% of their income as a Member of Congress. As their pension amount is based on the number of years they serve in office, to even qualify for the 80% amount a congressman would need to serve in office for 66 years.
The exact equation for their retirement is this: 1.7 percent times the number of years in office (for the first 20 years) and 1.0 percent for each year after that. This percentage is multiplied against the average salary of the congressman's best three years of earnings. Thus, a congressman who serves for thirty years could expect a pension that was 44% of their best paid years in Congress.
Third of all, to even begin collecting their pension, a Member of Congress must be 62, must be 50 years old with 20 years of service, or must have served 25 years in the Congress.
Lastly, the military retirement system is similarly based on years in service and a percentage for each year served (2.5%). While a soldier must serve 20 years to qualify for military retirement, those that do so receive 50% of their base pay as a pension (compared to 34% for Member of Congress who spend 20 years in D.C.). Those members of our military who serve for 30 years receive 75% of their base pay as a pension (compared to 44% for Members of Congress).
congressmen should recieve the same benefits as the military while they serve. if a congressmen serves less than 20 years due to not being re-elected, oh well. same rules should apply.
if it were purely a meritocracy, congress should not recieve any type of benefits due thier horrible job performance as of late.
They have many options, from leaving NSW to training positions to reserve training duty. The Esquire article makes no sense to anyone who knows how this works.
What REALLY happened is he got burnt out and made an emotional, stupid decision.
The worse part of the article is ignoring the fact that he can still change his mind. He still has many options to complete his 20 without 'carrying a gun'.
you have to do 20 no matter how badass you think you are.
All the waisted $$$$ parents spend sending there (gifted) children to place's of "Higher" education. Drinking Sleeping to late afternoon, running off to hear "Professor Liberal" Impressing there young Monkeys with 100% of NOTHING from there "Life of Knowledge" Being an Activiest avoiding "Taxes" Crying the Goverment Owes Me. Yea Goverment Owes Every Single One of You.. Full Mandatory Enlistment In Military Branch of Your Choice.
for all your whining do you know that George W and Dick Cheney and many other conservatives of that administration never served in the military?
Obviously, you have not been to college and you have no concept of how far this country would fall if education were valued as little as you value it. Put the country in the hands of people like you and this would be a poor third world country within a few years.
I have 3 college degress....AND I feel that colleges are a business today and have been for many years. Over half of college grads today can't find jobs and many many are in debt that it will take years t pay off if ever. No against education, but lets be real...they are running a business there.....
Your grammar and spelling make it painfully obvious the disdain you hold for education. You act as if being educated and being a soldier have to be mutually exclusive.
You have to be careful with CNN. Sometimes they fabricate just to attract a reaction. One of their own baits for news stories. So...if you aren't certain that this story is geniune...trust your instinct.
Do you have ANY facts at all to backup your implication that CNN falsified ANYTHING in this story? The entire thing is based on a FACTUAL note released by the Commander of the Naval Special Warfare Command. Are you accusing the Admiral of lying? What the h-ell, dude?
What evidence do you have to support these claims? Are you familiar with the concept of facts?
This is becoming an increasingly common refrain. I made bad choices and it is somebody elses fault.
It all started when information was leaked from the White House and a movie was to be made. . . should never have been allowed. . . the White House lacked true LEADERSHIP when it came to observing security implementation. . .
talk about tunnel vision; you got your eyes thru the scope?
And how is this related to the White House? You cant really stop those who lack self decipline that go to the media to make a movie, unless its classified info
The White House leaked info about the raid. It was a news story for a short time.
How is the ranting of a disgruntled ex-SEAL the fault of the White House?
To all non veterans who think like the above coward....bbddd or some stupid name he hides behind...vets have already given much more to their country than you ever will...go thank a veteran for defending the right for you to make such a statement...if you were in china or russia you would be tracked down and hanged to offending a vet.
Ray.. keep this in mind. The US Military hasn't 'defended' free speech... I could write/say anything I wanted prior to the Iraq invasion.. that silly old US-style crap doesn't fly anymore... We invaded Iraq under false pretenses. To think we need the military to invade foreign countries to 'protect free speech/etc' is to follow a path to stupidity and further more to prove our founding fathers correct: We the people are indeed stupid.. well into the future.
I can't believe you said that.....no argument on Irag or A-stan....but have you not read or even been to a history class? Wow!
To all ex-military people, stop whining and go find a job. Ask not what your country can do for you; ask what you can do for your country.
If you're going to troll, at least do a decent job. You're an embarrassment to internet trolls everywhere.
On the off-chance that you're not a troll...please don't breed. We already have enough stupid people on the planet.
Oh give the guy a break....his crack-pipe is likely glowing red when he posted it!!
There are some serious misunderstandings about the ultimate transition from active duty medical care to post active duty care in terms of the transition to care under the Affordable Care Act. I, for one an concerned about the interface between the Affordable Care Act, and medical care under the Veteran's Administration. Has anyone actually considered the interface and how it is going to be carried out? I am personally caught in a "Catch 22" situation where I am a veteran with compensible service connected disabilities. I had a heart attack, and following the instructions of my case manager, I admitted myself to a local care provider for emergency treatment and stabilization. As soon as I was stabilized, I forced a trensfer to the Va hospital a couple miles down the freeway. Now I have perceived billing problems because Medicare rejected some of the Billing, and the VA has rejected my application for payment. How does The Affordable Care Act impact my situation. Had I gone to the VA initially, I would have been given 100% free care.Given some of the other stories I have heard, I seriously doubt any knowledgeable group has even tried to study and come up with answers for any of these situations. Given that, how can anyone realistically believe that this act is going to realize any savings whatever?
You must live in the U.S. Does anything else need to to said?
I too use my VA Benefits, because of non-service connected disabilities. I also get PTSD Care, Childhood problem {was born}. I served 1 month short of 8 years. Because my CO was trying his hardest to put me in jail for not supporting his party because he was screwing with my people. Even tried to Article ?? for almost burning up a duce & 1/2. No proof it was my fault. Could of been anyone in the company. Only knew I was eligible for VA Benefits because I had to file for assistance due to 3 years of unemployment and counting. Sill awaiting Feds to approve disabilities benefits.

Books sell, and fiction is the highest profit on the market... go figure!
There is NO ONE in the military who does not know it takes 20...not 16...for retirement benefits. Even the dumbest soldier you have ever served with knows that.
You can get a medical retirement after 8 years of service if you are considered disable to fulfill your duties.I know because I was medically retired after 12 years of service and still have full benefits. But you can not draw both VA and military pay.If you have 20 plus you are allowed to draw both.
When in doubt look about and you will find the answer
The crow flies at midnight.
He's lobbying the same benefits most of you demand for convicted terrorists and mass murderers. According to liberals, his real mistake was picking the wrong side.
As a liberal I object to your comments, I believe everyone deserves care when they are sick or wounded, no exception, if you thing those incarcerate get the same quality of treatment I can tell you as a nurse they don't. I am also a strong supporter of ALL members of the armed forces for their self sacrifice which is something we should never forget even in the face of bipartisan politics. Being human and caring for one another should always come first, most of the people I know in the military joined because they believed that ALL people deserve a chance for freedom, peace, and a chance for prosperity.
As with any news story one does not need to look very far to find an ignorant Conservative somehow misconstruing a situation to somehow be the fault of "liberals."
First of all "empresstrudy" let me commend you on the fact that you spelled everything correctly. One does not often find conservatard crybabies who can actually spell.
Your childish and immature conflation that somehow "liberals" are responsible for this man's decision reflects your failure as a thinking human being and that somehow his decision is related to treatment of those who are incarcerated.
He made an informed decision that HE now regrets and it has absolutely has nothing to do with the rights of those imprisoned with out trial and liberals had nothing to do with it.
Let me speculate on what type of person you most likely are: You are the type of person who would FIRE someone who is just days of being fully vested in a company pension and health care plan, because after all, that is what kind of people conservatives are – profit before people every time. And lest I forget, you probably wouldn't even give the person two weeks severance, because that is what conservatives do.
With a name like "empresstrudy" you seem like you are full of yourself and most likely could care less about anyone except yourself, because, after all, conservatives always put profit before people.
And a name like teatard basher cause most people to quit reading. Why can't people have an intelligent discussion and not resort to name calling?
Mac
Everyone who serves knows it takes 20 years for benefits. I only served 4 and knew that. What is his excuse?
UBL was dead long before the alleged raid on his compound in Pakistan only the indoctrinated sheep believe the psyops that UBL was killed in Pakistan by the Seal team 6 members. The government offered NO TANGIBLE EVIDENCE OR PROOF THAT UBL was killed in Pakistan, no doubt UBL is dead but the story of the killing of UBLthat the Government peddled is pure fiction and propaganda.
proof or you're lying
Very well said massoud, and most probably true too! That's probably why this purported Ussama bin Laden's body was quickly dumped into the Arabian Sea in order to keep anyone from finding out.
As soon as I heard the Mainstream Stream Medias fictional report that UBL was killed in his Pakistan Compound I turned to the person next to me and said "They will never show his body to the public". Low and behold I was correct for they purportedly buried his body at sea for the dimwitted Americans and others to believe the farcical Seal Team 6 story.Like I said prior UBL is dead, and was dead prior to the alleged raid on his alleged compound in Pakistan.
Evidence? or just a fairy tale rant?
They are coming to take me away haha, they are coming to take me away. Never let the truth get in the way of a good conspiracy theory. Not a shred of evidence of what my man @massoud is saying, not a shred. Wonder what web site he finds this stuff. Probably the same site where Arpaio posts his "birther" stuff.
you believe in propaganda I guess oh well to each his own
Wow. Got other conspiracy tales for us. How about Roswell...
I suggest you read Edward Bernays definition of propaganda
So Massoud, Please refresh our memory .... Which of the two Stealth Blackhawk helos were you riding on that night??
I do not remember seeing your name or even any reference to someone like you in any article or book I have read so far based on the raid. In other words, your thoughts are pure speculation. Burying OBL anywhere but at sea would have turned that burial ground into the "Second Mecca" and sorry we could not have that. Aiman Al Zawahiri should expect the same fate. Please try to blog the next time with more salient facts because right now NO ONE believes you.
I suggest you read Edward Bernays definition of propaganda
So I guess you are claiming that everyone but me believes the farcical Psyops propaganda Navy Seal Team 6 mission that allegedly killed an already dead guy? UBL was a terrorist and I am glad UBL is dead, however the government could have had a better Hollywood screenwriter right their whimsical narrative
* write not right
massoud: I hae a couple questions:
1) Al Qaeda reported OBL dead shortly after the alleged raid. Why would they wait and time their report to coincide with the US reports?
2) Why wait for this time to say OBL has been killed? I am glad he is dead – but, I don't care if he was shot dead by a US soldier or if he choked on a bacon sandwich. Why not report it when we learn that it has happened?
3) do you really think the government believes it needs to show everyone everything? If graphic photos had been provided then someone – like yourself – could still run out and say "well, we all know that OBL had doubles and this is onlya double..." or some other trival.
No amount of evidence will convince everyone – there are still a lot of people who believe Obama is from Kenya, and not a US citizen.
Al Queada reporting his death could easily have been done by a hacker. Why not shoot and wound him then if he really was at the compound and bring him back to face a trial on American soil . The footage of "UBL" watching TV in "his compound" in Pakistan was definitely a double. The former Prime Minister of Pakistan Benezir Bhuto in a interview with David Frost said that Omar Sheik killed UBL shortly before Bhutos assassination. Look up the Benezir Bhuto interview with David Frost. I am glad UBL is dead but I believe that he had been dead years prior to the "Navy Seal Team 6 Raid"
If bin Laden had been dead for years don't you think the previous administration would have taken credit for it?
There may be something to conspiracy theories, but not every major event has one behind it to keep the sheeple glued to their TV's so advertisers can continue to burn their subliminal messages to go into debt buying their products while waiting and hoping for some graphic footage of a dead terrorist. Enough of the tin foil hats.
As a retired navy veteran i am too concerned about the way come current seals are conducting themselves...publicity from bragging about kills, writing books, going on a sympathy trips for decisions they made.. my goodness where are the navy getting this guys from...
I've seen the UDT teams train at Little Creek, and it is a work, eat, and sleep team effort It was an effort of great privation and necessary team strength – I'm sorry some members have felt privledged, and abused, because there are no individuals – just the team. By the same token, the team should be rewarded in some manner for their special effort, performance, and skills, beyond the normal call of duty. But the silence is really more than a tradition – it's necessary to the operation of the team, and speaking out is invidious to the team's future – that is wrong.
I served in the navy during Korea. We were all volunteers. The pay and benefits were poor, but we knew that when we enlisted. I haven't personally used the VA, but those I know who have, have been treated – sometimes for illnesses I thought were not service connected.
Be a man, do the job, serve the nation with dignity and omit the brags and complaints.
I'm retired Army having served 27 yrs and somebody should of sat this guy down and explained the consequences of leaving early. He threw away 16 yrs of exemplary service to his country. I had my MOS changed after 20 yrs and was assigned to a training battalion my last 7. I'm sure he could of gone that route his last 3 or 4. Too Bad
The problem in that world is that if they switch from spec ops to another area, they will not be seen the same. Kinda crazy but that's how it is.
This crybaby needs to visit the local V.A. hospital or clinic and submit a claim for his alleged service connected ailments like the rest of the veterans do. I really am tired of hearing the bellyaching from these prima donnas in the navy infantry arm. The only reason they were assigned the plum Osama bin Laden job was because the CJCS was a sailor and the the rotating boss at special warfare at the time was also navy! Logic says it was a job for the army or marines. Q. Would you join the army expecting to kind, sorta serve on an aircraft carrier? Of course not, so why do this cats join the navy expecting to kinda, sorta serve in a light infantry role? Answer: The navy realizes there are few medals to be had in this new type of low intensity warfare, so why not field a nit that can be awarded huge amounts of medals on their say so, and thus "beat army!" Plus it is a good recruiting tool. Go navy, beat army....!
Be man enough to insult him to his face. You're such a loser talking tough behind your Internet anonymity.
Are you nuts? I might get hurt, then lose my hard earned V.A. benefits for 100% service connected dating back 1965.
I think the thought of making a lot of money or being famous has clouded the judgment of some special forces members. I'm sure there will be a book and he will make lot's of money. 20 years has always been the standard for retirement and the VA is there for all who served.
If we put the same amount of time, effort, and money into mental healthcare for soldiers as we do training them then PTSD might be a thing of the past.
We put a great deal of effort and money into delivering mental health care. Investigate your claim and you'll discover I'm correct. Some questions come to mind... Is mental health really very effective in the best case scenario? What is the baseline of PTSD we must expect in a profession dedicated to killing people, destroying property, and rendering the enemy incapable of countering our political, economic and military objectives? Isn't some level the cost of doing business – especially for ten consecutive years! Only 1% of our population are veterans and our Service-members have been deployed to death. Why wouldn't we be broken?
It is a privilege to serve with SEAL, even more to be picked for the mission, personally shoot OB is a chance of many, many life time...
The shooter must be above and beyond any ordinary young men who could only dream of being part of the team, but now he manage to find a way to sink everything, whining about not being treated differently?
I no longer have respect for him.
Scary that a person would leave just 4 short years away from receiving huge retirement benefits with options of probably any kind of 'job' he wanted if he didn't like the Seals anymore. I can only 'speculate' it might have been PTSD. It's a scary thing that can happen to anyone even a 'tough guy' Navy Seal.
It's also interesting that CONS didn't deny that this guy was legitimate...
Huge? – I retired after 22 years and I can tell you it's not huge. 1/2 of BASE pay, you still have to pay for your family's health care. I'm not complaining, I knew before I got out what was coming, but I'm tired of people thinking if you do 20 in the service you have it made afterwards. Hardly.
Mac
If we train our killers, then we should pay our killers. Although honor is still admirable, if it is not backed up by true love, respect, and appreciation that extends into the credit side of the account, then expect this type of self-promotion and behavior. Pay the man or just keep quiet.
Is it possible that this SEAL spent 16 years unaware of the contract he had signed?
If he did not know what the contract said after 16 years, this SEAL is a real dolt.
This guy's a total idjut. And no doubt he thought he was getting a free pass in life when he shot Osama.
Maybe he was thinking of free beers, access to chicks, adoration ....
I got access to those things and I'm only a supply guy in the Army Reserves hahahaha
Your full 20 years or bust. Every soldier, sailor, airman, and Marine are made highly aware of that fact. Service related injuries the VA will handle. Anything outside of that perview is not their fault.
Hell, even I know that and I've never served.
"empresstrudy" seems to think that it is the "fault of liberals" because personal responsibility be damned!! Liberals love prisoners and terrorist so somehow it it the fault of "liberals love for prisoners" that this man won't get his medical benefits.
In spite of what you might say, I have to agree with "empresstrudy" after all, she is a teabagger and is never wrong.
Liberals are to blame for the rising price of gasoline, but never get credit when the price drops.
This man had no free will. How could he?? Liberals love for prisoners is what caused him to forfeit benefits, not something totally reasonable like a written contract that everyone else understands and has to follow...
The Navy did nothing wrong! The Navy takes care of its People! – @Marita.
When you leave the service (Navy or Army or Air Force or Marines) you are no longer part of that force. As a result, they no longer take care of you. Why should they? I think this man may have expected a nice security job or consultant job and found out it did not work out. Maybe he saw the errors of his ways and wants back in. Tough, dude, tough.
The fake money is becoming to costly in human life.those who serve know 911 was a false flag, know it has nothing to do w/safety and its all bout getting oil, geting those w/gold on fake money, joim imf, hand gold to tyrant banks. Those that hate on those that speak out our greedy hypocrites hooked on cheap oil,big cars,ss,want their free speech but not for others if truth is difficult to deal with. Just keep ur heads in the sand u muntant osterage sheap.
I can tell by your comment and your use of the English language that you obviously didn't get far past the 2nd grade. You socialists have been whining about the war being all about the oil for the last 11 years. Okay, now that we are done in Iraq and working on getting out of Afghanistan...WHERE'S THE OIL? Your boy Obama has been in for four full years now and he had control of the house and senate for two, don't tell me he's out for oil two!!
As to the shooter, I got out in '93 and it was mandatory that all separating sailors attend classes for transitioning from Navy to Civilian life. They covered everything from resumes to benefits. My son just got out last year and they mandated the same classes. If the Shooter didn't know these things then he must have slept through class, much like U.S. Slave slept through his.
By the way US Slave, if you don't like it here...MOVE! Those of us that are and were proud to serve would appreciate it.
@282Mikado - I to served in the military and oil out of Iraq benefited Bush and Cheney along with a few others. You should check your facts before opening your mouth. Our American Sons and Daughters sacrificed in Iraq for what? All that monies spent there when it could have helped everyone else here in the US (dems, repubs or Ind)!
As for the "Shooter"; he knew what it takes to retire at full pension etc.. But he is the "Shooter" and he feels he should be treated different. Wat-Eber!
Oh btw Mikado, thank you for you and your son's service to our great country (if your telling the truth)!
WHERE'S THE OIL?
The oil companys have it.
What did you think ?
It was coming to America so our gas would be cheaper ?
You dont like those "911 nuts".
The NEOCONS decided that the biggest threat to "American Security" was......OIL !
The second biggest threat was the rise of China on the global market.
Without oil, China's economy would crumble.
American and British oil companys now control most of the oil going to China.
(See Iran, oil imbargo).
People like you always see "GAS".
Try thinking about a global economy now controlled by the NEOCONS.
World politics are a very serious and dangerous game.
911 was "caused" to initiate the world to be in constant fear of the boogy man.
It worked.
By the way, burning jet fuel DOES NOT MELT STEEL.
Hey U.S. Slave – Mow my lawn then fetch some water for the horses.
The current generation of SEAL's are imbued with the same 'me me me me' type ethic that we see played out on the fields of the NFL. A man performs the job that he is being paid to do and believes he should receive extra money and attention just because he did his job. Conversely, it is everybody elses fault when he does not accomplish the job he was paid to do.
When you sign up for a job, you know the compensation and what the job entails. Do the job, take your pay and STFU!
Agree 100%. Very well put.
Stange that these highly trained individuals can't seem to keep their mouths shut after they get out. You would think with all that training they just couldn't shut it off and start whining like some civilian not even a year after they get out. Seems all this press after the Bin Laden raid has went to their heads. Are the BUDs trainers getting soft on us?
This SEAL sounds like one of the mothers who whined about the Carnival cruise ship. Incessant whine and howling. He got out. His doing. Tough!
Maybe the military should find a way to keep these people on the books without them having to perform missions until they retire? It isn't like the government doesn't already waste huge sums of money on worthless endeavors. In these cases it seems more than fair to help these people who have given so much to protect the homeland. After all how much could it really cost?
On the other hand, he could have written a book and probably made a bundle.
Manpower is the largest expense the Navy pays, more than ship, aircraft and weapons procurement now. Keeping people on who are not productive is a huge waste of money.
It the gentleman has service connected disabilities he should apply to the VA. He will receive monthly compensation based on the degree of his disability and lifetime medical care that is, believe it or not (I use it routinely) very good. If you follow the doctors instructions you get well. Most of the problems I see are with patients who do not follow their doctors orders.
The military did nothing wrong here. This man violated the spirit of his commitment. He should simply STFU and sit down without selling out his country after the fact...
I am sick of this I used to look to the SEALS as perfection as opeerators and professionals humble and quiet. Now its something the younger generation of SEALS seems to brag and speak out about missions that are to be closed. They are not to be individuals but a team a family and it is upsetting that the 10 percent are giving the Frogman a bad name.
What the Admiral said is true...I KNOW it is!
Sorry folks, just disregard what my Tea Partying brother posted Zwei above. He believes everything the government says without question.
Neun Stein – Your comment was meant as sarcasm right? I hope so.
