Pentagon inquiry clears top general

By Barbara Starr

A top general caught up in the scandal that forced former CIA Director David Petraeus to resign has been cleared of allegations that he wrote potentially inappropriate e-mails to Jill Kelley, the woman who claimed she was being threatened by Paula Broadwell, a U.S. defense official tells CNN.

The Department of Defense Inspector General has cleared Gen. John Allen, who currently is completing his post leading U.S. troops in Afghanistan and is in the running to be the next Supreme Allied Commander Europe and the military head of NATO.

"The IG has found the allegations against General Allen to be unsubstantiated. There have been no decisions made on General Allen's nomination to NATO," the official told CNN.

General Allen's nomination to be the military head of NATO was put on hold by the administration pending the outcome of the IG review.  The secretary of defense now must decide whether to recommend to the White House whether the nomination, which has been put on hold, should go forward. But it was not known if Sec. Leon Panetta would make that decision or leave it for the next secretary of defense to decide.

The Pentagon released as statement late Tuesday that said Panetta was "pleased" with the conclusion of the inspector general's investigation.

"The Secretary has complete confidence in the continued leadership of General Allen, who is serving with distinction in Afghanistan," the statement read.

    The first thing to remember with a franchisor is that they are there to sell you a franchise. Even the best franchisor out there will attempt to market their product and downplay other franchises. What you want to realize here is that their goal and game is to have successful franchisees but that does not prevent them from possibly making a wrong fit with you. You are your best advocate. Keep your head and do not let their enthusiasm become overwhelming to you. `;

Cleared by an Internal Investigation. Reminds me of police officer internal investigations after they shoot and kill an innocent civilian, "based on the findings" of the police departments internal investigation police officer John Q. Law was justified in shooting John Doe for police officer John Q. Law "thought his life was in danger" upon killing innocent civilian John Doe. The District County Attorney who is an elected official and (receives campaign donations) from the involved Police Union "clears" officer John Q. Law of any wrongdoing, and declines to press charges, Case closed, move on with your lives and get over it.

General Allen, since now you have been cleared of allegations, it is time you need to focus on Pakistani terrorist harboring tyrants. It is also time for the poor Pakistanis to unit against these blood sucking tyrants, corrupt government officials, and Saudi Mullahs, and ship them to their safe heavens in London and Middle East.

Complete whitewash. Confidence in this general is misplaced. Virtual booty calls on the job are
conduct unbecoming of a anyone in responsibility, particularly a general in the armed services.
Never rely on military brass to police military brass. If it walks like a duck and smells like a duck
its a duck regardless of what you call it. He put himself in a compromising situation and doesnt
have the good sense required to do the job.

Here is the deal – I have been a DoD IG. There is no way having 10,000 emails received or sent (total) can be unsubstantiated. No General Officer should be communicating that many emails to a person that has nothing to do with his/her job – period. Now factor in the rest of the story and something is wrong. DoD is embarrassed and don't want to add to the issue.

I agree. Let's not forget that the DOD didn't do anything about Gen P. Nothing happened till old girl got threats and took the issue to her FBI friend who pushed the issue.

The United States Marine Corps is the only service where the leadership has genuine integrity. They have always been that way and will continue the tradition for as long as the Corps exists.

You must be brand new, didn't do anything important, or else you were the mushroom in the office that people kept in the dark and fed Sh&%. I was a command adviser in the Marines for my career, and the Marines are no better than anybody else. Marines who drink the kool-aid like you not only sound like a fool, you get young Marines killed.

SgtMaj, there is such a thing as a Command Adviser. We retire after 20 and get con jobs (contractor) advising commands on how to do their jobs, and get paid a lot more than we did while we were active-duty while still getting retirement. I don't know if this is what David was referring to, but the job does exists and I am surprised you don't know about it, and even more surprised at 27 years you haven't joined the game. In all honesty though, I know it is easier for us to get out at 20 then for the E side. My own Sergeants Major were my enlisted advisers, mostly because the 1stSgt did all the real work, so maybe that is what David was talking about. Who knows, who cares.

Nobel Peace Prize Nominee: Obama Asks Military Leaders If They Will “Fire On US

    Paul Joseph Watson
    January 22, 2013

2009 Nobel Peace Prize nominee Jim Garrow shockingly claims he was told by a top

military veteran that the Obama administration’s “litmus test” for new military

leaders is whether or not they will obey an order to fire on U.S. citizens.

Garrow was nominated three years ago for the prestigious Nobel Peace Prize and is the

founder of The Pink Pagoda Girls, an organization dedicated to rescuing baby girls

from “gendercide” in China. Garrow has been personally involved in “helping rescue

more than 36,000 Chinese baby girls from death.” He is a public figure, not an

anonymous voice on the Internet, which makes his claim all the more disturbing.

“I have just been informed by a former senior military leader that Obama is using a

new “litmus test” in determining who will stay and who must go in his military

leaders. Get ready to explode folks. “The new litmus test of leadership in the

military is if they will fire on US citizens or not”. Those who will not are being

removed,” Garrow wrote on his Facebook page, later following up the post by adding the

man who told him is, “one of America’s foremost military heroes,” whose goal in

divulging the information was to “sound the alarm.”

George – this is about a guy who was wrongly accused of impropriety and has been found not to have done anything wrong. You need to take your meds. We live in a country where we are supposed to use evidence to determine guilt, not just political idealogy. You clearly have something against conservatives. This is fine – I personally find them fundamentally repugnant and morally bankrupt and intellectually inferior. But your rant actually makes you sound more like a Teabagger than a progressive or liberal. Direct your ire where it belongs – to those who are trying to take away women's reproductive rights, those who are trying to balance the budget on the backs of the poor and middle class, and those who are trying to promote the financial interests of gun manufacturers because they don't give a rat's about dead children. I personally thought the investigation against this guy was a bit of a witch hunt and am glad he has been cleared.

      Hey buddy!

Your tin foil hat is a little tight. You should loosen it some to let the blood circulate more freely to your brain.

What's wrong with drone strikes? Would you prefer we marched troops into another nation's sovereign territory?

Killing violent extremists with drones is no worse than doing so with bullets.
