Sex scandal ends Air Force colonel’s career

The man in charge of the Air Force's main basic training facility has been relieved of command after a series of investigations of sexual misconduct by instructors at the base, according to a senior Air Force official.
Col. Glenn Palmer was commander of the 737th Training Group at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio.
The base has been rocked in recent months by accusations by Air Force recruits who accuse their instructors of sexual assault or other misconduct.
Six instructors under Palmer's command have been charged in connection with the accusations, and a seventh has pleaded guilty to a charge of having an improper relationship with a trainee.
At least 31 trainees have been victims of the misconduct.
By relieving Palmer of command, the Air Force has made it impossible for him to get any more promotions, which effectively ends his military career, the official said.
He will be replaced by Col. Eric Axelbank, who had been Palmer's superior at Lackland, according to an Air Force press release.
In the meantime Air Force Maj. Gen. Margaret Woodward continues to investigate the problems at Lackland, and will issue recommendations when her investigation is complete.

Yes....this was undoubtedly encouraged by and tolerated by superiors....the whole court martial and relief of command is nothing more than a smoke screen. Every single American should be ashamed and and blame themselves and never again should we as a nation pretend that we have any morality.....secretly we know we are all racist, nazi, and love faux news and name our children after the big guy named Rush.

This is national security news? The only surprising news about this story is how the instructors got away with it for so long given all the barracks spies, informers, backbiters, and slanderers in that sorry excuse for a service.
I was at Lackland as a female AF pinger in '74. my Flight was the the first to have male TI's. There was no problem then from the Instructor.. He was great. We had a female co-TI at the time. But there was issues with the other male
enlisted guys who would hit on the females when they got a chance. Was in the infirmary with a bad case of
blisters, when I over heard a conversation with a 30 something male hitting on a very young and naive female pinger. He from my more mature point of view made a complete AZZzzz of himself on the garbage he was feeding that kid. After he left I told her he was full of crap and just wanted to get into her pants... she believe him and not me.. I could imagine she was ripe for being a con victim... she had no clue she was begin conned. He was trying his best to charm her... and she fell for it hook line and sinker.... He was or THOUGHT he was a real slick willie... I could tell she had no idea he was skum.
Always wondered if she ever got taken by the likes of him... she was so gullible.... so sad.

Since you were Chair Force, it's easy to imagine that you were probably way out of shape, but big girls in Texas usually get nailed too, so are (were) you horribly butter faced or something? You are full of it, that is like saying the principle of a school is glad that a teacher raped children they taught. The instructors admittedly covered up their actions, unlike Penn State had leadership known something would have been done sooner.
Mike – in the military world, the leaders are responsible for the climate of their command. Under his command, this Colonel allowed a climate to prosper where this sort of activity was condoned or ignored. Currently in the Air Force (and all branches of the service), there is a GIANT push to train folks about this sort of activity, and it NOT being acceptable. The fact that so many of his subordinates conducted themselves in this manner IS a reflection on the commander, which is why he was relieved of command. Whether he knew about the activities of those NCOs working for him or not, it was on his watch that it happened. If it were just one or two, then fry only those individuals. However this went far beyond affecting just one or two people, and it shows that the commander of the unit was not really in control of his Airmen or the "climate" of the command.
That satisfying look on his face indicates his instructors were willing to share their recruit conquests with the colonel.
He was probably being fellated as the picture was taken.
