Is North Korea readying a nuclear test?
The U.S. has seen no significant signs that North Korea is readying a nuclear test, a senior military official said, responding to questions about a Reuters report from Beijing that the reclusive regime has "almost completed" preparations for a third nuclear test, citing a "senior source with close ties to Pyongyang and Beijing."
U.S. officials said it would not be surprising should North Korea go ahead with a test, given its history of following missile tests with other provocative actions. However, a senior U.S. military official told CNN's Mike Mount that the U.S. has "seen no overt indications that there is any movement afoot do" a nuclear test.
While reports of nuclear test preparations could not be confirmed, North Korea’s “trash talking” to the South points to the possibility, a senior administration official told CNN's Jill Dougherty.
In this regard, North Korea is following its traditional pattern, a U.S. official explained to CNN's Pam Benson.
“It’s not surprising that North Korea is escalating tensions with South Korea in the wake of its failed missile launch. Pyongyang is following a well-known script in preaching to Seoul that it will set the terms of the relationship," the official said. "The North has a range of options, including nontraditional ones, to provoke the South, and there’s always a risk that any provocation could backfire.”
The official would not speculate on what North Korea might do.
The White House spokesman warned North Korea against moves that would further inflame the situation.
North Korea “refrain from engaging in anymore hostile or provocative actions," White House spokesman Jay Carney said.
North Korea said Monday that it would soon initiate "special actions" aimed at destroying the South Korean president and his government.
North Korean armed forces will use "unprecedented peculiar means and methods of our own style" to carry out the actions, the official Korean Central News Agency said in a report, adding that the operation would take three or four minutes.
It did not specify what those actions would involve.

Well Jay i agree with you on the fact that we should keep our noses out of this, but I disagree with you about not being a superpower. First, with the amount of nukes we have that for one makes us a superpower. Second, we are more technologically advanced then any other country out there, military wise. For instance, we are the only country at this time with drone technology. Third, we have the best trained military in the world and we have experience on our side. If your basing everything off the afghanistan and iraq war, then what you need to understand is that this is war that can be won. Fighting a war where the enemy blends in with the population is difficult situation for any military. If you fight a war where its military vs military then you can see what the US can do. Finally, we own the air, which can be a huge advantage in any war. Right now going to war with China would not be good for either side, but to think we couldn't hold our own, well sir you're sadly mistaken.

Never underestimate the enemy and when it comes to these two military's we wouldn't. One thing to think about when it comes to the US, if we weren't a super power, then trust me we would have already been put in our place a long time ago. I dont necessarily agree with what out government does all the time, but I am fortunate we have them protecting us. Also with 9/11 there is conspiracies behind that-not saying I believe them.,but at this point who knows(not going to get into that). There is much more to these wars then what the average american understands. Propaganda works in mysterious ways and has the ability to alter the perception of many minds(doesnt apply but thought you should know). Oh and as far as sending a couple of missles in, trust me again, it would be raining fire from the get go...Also, besides Russia (equal), we have the best missle defense system in the world. So that right there is an advantage.The only thing that China may have on their side is the ability to fund the war longer than us; but who is the say it would even be a long war? Personally I dont see anything happening with either of them at least not anytime soon. Not sure if you saw the article about the glider but if we can get that to work, sorry but there wont be anyone touching us. Missle delivery at mach 20 (13,000 mph). No defense sytem in the world (including ours) would have a chance to blow it out of the sky.

They were going to do that anyway, you can condemn the rocket launch, people know they have just had leadership transition so taking the p*** out of them over the failure at this what they consider sensitive time was going to lead to a response of some kind. I basically took the line that it was like any other failure say the Russia have or with the shuttle. So unless people are prepared for a response and that with the DPRK means the risk of full spectrum high intensity warfare to a North Korean provocation I see little point in making fun of their failure.
