U.S. sends signal to Iran before talks

Before talks over Iran's nuclear program get underway in Istanbul later this week, the U.S.S. Enterprise arrived in the Persian Gulf as part of a message to Iran that U.S. military resources are ready in the event President Obama orders military action against the Islamic Republic's nuclear program.

For now, tough economic sanctions directed at Iran and the threat of more are the stick the international community is using to bring greater transparency to Iran's nuclear ambitions.

Is it enough to keep Israel from striking Iran's nuclear complex?  Barbara Starr reports.

    Mark my words.

    WW3 here we come.

I hope people realize that the Cold War is still going on. This is not a war between Iran and the West lol...this is between Russia/China and the U.S and its allies. Iran just happens to be anti-western and they also happen to be good friends with the Russians...

Keep watch over what happens in Syria, the U.S wants to keep pressure on Assad so he steps down and so that the Americans can gain more influence in the Middle East than they already have. Russia is one of Syria's biggest allies in the MIddle East...Putin will not go down without a fight. Also if Assad steps down, this means very bad news for Iran, so it;s a 2 for 1 deal.

And as for Israel, it is nothing more than a U.S military base. They are inseperable from each other. There is no debating that.

Therfore, if Israel strikes Iran this year or whenever for that matter, the U.S will be dragged into a full Mid-East war with Iran and its supporters. Russia repeatedly warns against a strike on Iran for one major reason...because the U.S will have too much influence in the Middle East if they do become succesful in getting regime change in Iran.

Perhaps it would be more sensible if the US would quit trying to set up Iran for invasion. It is bad enough that we have invaded both Iraq and Afghanistan and proved to the world that we are as bad as we accused Russia of being in the Cold War. Wars can get out of control, and sooner or later Russia, China, and other nations will get fed up with our bullying and violence and stealing of their resources.

Where doer the idea that US has pulled ot of Iraq stem from? The only belief that there is still any semblence of Iraq as a sovereign nation is found in US Propaganda. The old Iraq borders have been changed internaly into the larges and most prosperous portion is now Kurdistan, a US protectorate. The portion now called Iraq is no more than a Corporate State, and an area that will take multi generations before it will ever regain its sovereignty again, and then only after it is of no longer of any use to its Corporate managers. Iraq is left with the greatly depleted and smallest portions of the sweet crude fields and greatest portion of the sour The Old Iraq gov edifices still remain but with no more governing power than distribution of whatever revenue it has leftover from sales of oil after payments on international debts/w interest and all that is owed to tbe thousands of foreign contractors that are rebuilding its infrasture.

I think the environment should be put in the category of our national security. Defense of our resources is just as important as defense abroad. Otherwise what is there to defend ?

Now that we're out of Iraq and withdrawing from Afghanistan, Iran is gonna have to change its tune fast. I'm not saying I wanna fight a war for oil, but if in the process of disarming a criminally-insane dictator we happen upon a few million barrels of oil, I'm sure our economy wouldn't mind.

debra g – you're an idiot, anyone that calls the President of the United States the anti-christ, is an idiot. Morons like yourself shouldn't be allowed to have internet access, you're too fu#$ing stupid to have an adult conversation anyway. Get a life, hating the President doesn't change your life it just makes you a loser, you obviously have problems, why don't you focus on those instead of blaming someone else for everything that's wrong with you, because you're a failure doesn't mean everyone else is and it doesn't mean it's someone elses fault.

Thank you Clinton. In the current 'first amendment frenzy' it seems that it's ok to bash anyone, even the President of the United States. The respect is dwindling. It's truly sad that so many have so much access and so little intelligence and/or discipline. Nobody has to be accountable for themselves. Regulations are taking the place of self-responsibilty.

debra g – every word that comes out of your mouth proves how stupid you are. The US could have launched a war against Iran months ago if it wanted to, and they sure as heck wouldn't have moved out of Iraq if that was the plan, you're too stupid for words. There's zero evidence that this President wants a war with Iran. In fact he's shown incredible restraint when dealing with the Iranians. You think because the carrier Enterprise is there we're prepping for war? Obviously you're too stupid to understand that Warships don't win wars, Ground troops do, If the US were preparing for war there would be an obvious troop buildup in a nearby country, likely afghanistan or Iraq, and we see none of that, See dumb broads like yourself need to stay out of discussions like this because you have no damn clue what you're talking about.

I fail to see how the media would want to hide a war... War makes billions for media companies. Think of all the people that tuned to Cnn, Fox, MSNBC, ABC, CBS, etc. between 2001 and 2005 just to see the war in two different countries. Why would they hide all that money.

folks obama sent the show of force in to the gulf for no other reason than to send a signal to the american voter that he is strong . this signal is only for the americans .
obama according to what i have seen him do , will do nothing and i bet he will be releaved if iran was to test a nuke so he can say its to late to act . this is nothing more than window dressing for jewish support in the election.

Talking tough with no stick – You're yet another dip!@!#$ that has no clue how the world works. The US ALWAYS has an Aircraft Carrier in the Gulf you idiot. Military deployments like this are planned MONTHS in advance too, you're so !@#$ing dumb why do you even get online to spread your ignorance? there should be a competency test before you're allowed to go online... because morons like you with conspiracy theories jump on and make as much rediculous noise as you can while the rest of us sit back and wonder.... How did our schools produce such a dumb !@#$ing idiot like this guy?

Did CNN just publish this "opinion" as a fact ? They published earlier this was part routine for U.S. to be switching ships around the waters (not in those exact words), but stating here that this is a "message sent", did they get that from a whitehouse official ? I want to hear cold hard facts not stereo-typed opinions please !

RealityBuff – Ah... someone who actually pays attention. You're absolutely right, this is nothing more than a planned deployment for this Aircraft Carrier.... Carrier deployments are planned Months in advance and we always have at least one in the gulf. CNN published this story because they knew they would rile up the tinfoil hat wearing psycho's who they knew couldn't help themselves but to get on here and shout their ridiculous borderline schizophrenic theories about the world and our President in particular. Basically, this is one for the nutjobs to jump out of their seat over. Normal folks like you and i know it's just another planned deployment. Nothing has changed.

What weaponry has China or Russia sold to Iran? What and where did Iran purchase the missels to defend its energy sights? Israel! Israel did not think that the Gen I Patriot missiles US GAVE THEM were good enough and Demanded Gen II and sold Gen I to Iran. China does buy Iran oil and undoutably Iran likes hard but China trade not always cash. Iran is no backwater low tech nation and has a well developed scientific weapons progranm of own. A message? How quaint CNN is! YOU THERE IN IRAN! DO YOU SEE MY BIG BALLS ON THIS SHIP, WELL WE BIGGER ONES THAN YOU, AND YOU BETTER HURRY UPAND QUIT FOOLING AROUND BEFORE WE LOSE OUR PATIENCE AND SPANK YOUR BUTTS. Wonder what we are going to Negotiate?

Iran gets much of the money it uses for it's nuclear ambitions from Communist China, it uses this money to buy its technology from Putins Russia.

Both Communist China and Putins Russia do not have the better interest of free people at heart. The only way America can peacefully diffuse the situation in Iran (and in NK) is to cut off the money supply. How? If consumers in the free world refuse to buy the near slave wage products from Communist China the money for these nations will dry up. If China sees that it will lose its gravy train they will stop arming our enemies.

Remember a wise enemy will allow an opponent to weaken itself on others before making its move. America has been playing onto the hands of the enemies of freedom for a long time. Its time for our leaders and our citizens to get a clue.
