There have been no U.S. drone strikes in Pakistan for about six weeks, an Obama administration official told CNN Saturday.
The official declined to be identified due to the sensitive nature of the information.
Although it has not been openly acknowledged, it is well understood that the CIA targets and conducts such strikes inside Pakistan. Over the past several months, drones strikes have been targeting both high-value al Qaeda and Taliban targets, as well as operatives of the Haqqani network that have been striking U.S. forces inside Afghanistan.
