U.S. offers up to $10 million reward over Benghazi

By Jamie Crawford

The United States has a reward of up to $10 million on the table for information leading to the arrest of anyone involved in the deadly terror attack last year on the U.S. diplomatic mission in Benghazi, Libya, the State Department disclosed for the first time on Friday.

While U.S. authorities have filed charges in the case, no one has been arrested, prompting outrage in Congress.

Ambassador Christopher Stevens and three other Americans were killed in the attack by armed militants in September 2012.

The reward has been in effect since January but never publicized.

"Due to security issues and sensitivities surrounding the investigation, the event-specific reward offer has not been publicly advertised" on a State Department website for its Rewards for Justice initiative, an agency statement said, adding that the program's tools can be "utilized in a variety of ways, without publicizing them."

The reward was disclosed in response to a query from Rep. Michael McCaul, R-Texas, who chairs the House Homeland Security Committee, and 82 other members of Congress who wanted to know why no Benghazi suspects were included in the State Department rewards program.

"We fail to understand how such an important counterterrorism tool could not be used by the administration when you and the President claim that bringing the assailants to justice is such a high priority," said the October 30 letter to Secretary of State John Kerry.

FBI Director James Comey told a Senate hearing on Thursday the case was "among the FBI's very highest priorities."

    For example: The Benghazi Massacre
The White House used their simple strategy of Diversion, Deceit, Denial and Delay to throw them off the real Cover Up.
What was the real Cover Up? Within 24 hours Obama’s Political handlers knew that a highly armed terrorist group had attacked the Compound and killed a US Ambassador, a staff member and two Navy Seals. The Killing of a US Ambassador Stevens by Al Qaeda linked terrorists, was the highest level Official every captured, tortured and then murdered in the War on Terror.
The Political Team knew Ambassador Stevens had requested more security, and was denied by Department of State Officials, and Hillary Clinton had signed the Memo. They knew that several high ranking Department of State Officials had warned the Administration the Benghazi Compound had been attacked several times in the last six months, and requests for additional security was not only denied, but was reduced for political reasons. Liberal advisors felt fewer guards would be less provocative to terrorists.
Diversion: Spontaneous Mythical Mobs and U-Tube Videos: FBI Interviews taken within 24 hours of the attack confirmed NO Mobs motivated by old U-Tube Videos were in the area prior to the attack.
Deceit: Suggestions that the results of these interviews never reached members of the White House Political Team are a diversion, not facts. Yet, Obama, Hillary and Rice gave dozens of Interviews to major networks, alleging that the Mobs existed for two weeks after the attack.
Denial: Obama, Hillary and Rice deny ever knowing that Ambassador Stevens made several requests Security for Benghazi. Secretary of Hillary Clinton not only saw the request from Benghazi, she signed the request and then denied it. She would have passed that information on to the Obama’s Political Team within 24 hours of the attack.
Delay: To keep the real facts about Benghazi from reaching the American people, they have been FORCED to sign not just one but two NON-Disclosure agreements. None of the witnesses have been allowed to speak before the Investigating Committee.

Getting quiet over here. Why the lack of reporting? No one honestly cares about bengahzi except politicians . Not sure which side is to blame, could be R bashing obama, could be obama trying to dig out of a hole.

Lets do some reporting on iran, NK , russia, syria, lebanon .
Lets do some reporting on how many hi up military leaders have been fired this year.
Must you R&D keep playing hot potato with something some terrorists did trying to make each other look bad when neither of you looks any better than the rest. Neither party deserves to be elected right now. How about some actual reporting.

Many Muslims especially women will eagerly cash the reward but the US has to assure them, they wont receive any reprisals. It should be done in the most secretive way, keeping the anonymity of the whistleblower, otherwise no one will be encourage to speak up. In addition, the US should distribute flyers with the reward and all anonymity conditions

The Obama Asministration has stated time and time again, that the Benghazi incident was a "spontaneous group of protestors who were upset about the YouTube movie."

The director of the film has been captured and thrown in prison.

But..."... what matter does it make", it "is not optimal".

America is the root of all terror. America has invaded sixty countries since world war 2.
In 1953 America overthrow Iran's democratic government Mohammad Mosaddegh and installed a brutal dictator Shah. America helped Shah of Iran to establish secret police and killed thousands of Iranian people.
During Iran-Iraq war evil America supported Suddam Hossain and killed millions of Iranian people. In 1989, America, is the only country ever, shot down Iran's civilian air plane, killing 290 people.
In 2003,America invaded Iraq and killed 1,000,000+ innocent Iraqi people and 4,000,000+ Iraqi people were displaced.
Now America is a failed state with huge debt. Its debt will be 22 trillion by 2015.

This whole political gamesmanship being played over the tragedy at Benghazi is appalling. The Americans that lost their lives while serving this great country is a sad event that will be remembered by their families for the rest of their lives. However, I have yet to see one 10 million dollar reward to bring someone to justice for the deaths of the over 4,000 brave service members whom lost their lives defending this great country in Iraq or Afghanistan are our lives not worth justice? Let the souls of the Benghazi tragedy RIP, that same day over 20 members of our military were KIA but no news of that!!! Just the political crap from Benghazi. As a 30 year Veteran with 4 tours to Iraq and two to Afghanistan I have seen and lost too many Soldiers, only to read this political crap about 4 deaths that volunteered to serve their post. Not once did I nor my troops volunteer for Iraq or Afghanistan but we as Americans only 1% volunteered to protect and defend this country. Stop the madness.

They should have subdued him and taken him to Bahgram in neighboring Afghanistan but instead they slaughtered him and then quickly threw his body into the Persian Gulf! This definitely was not right. Was this some kind of cover up?

Rumors are the Italian government stopped or prevented the raid from taking off from Italian territory; from Sigonella, Sicily and Aviano AFB. The Italian government way back in about 1986, when President Reagan was to attack and bomb Libya and try to get rid of Colonel Gaddafi, the Libyan dctator, the Italian premier, Benito Craxi notified Gaddafi that Reagan was to attack the next morning, but Craxi warned Gaddafi, thus, the Libyans were prepared and shot down an F-111, killing two American pilots. If anyone thinks Italy is in any way pro-American, they better sober up.

And now that we know about the sizable reward, aren't you asses ashamed of the all the attacks made against Sec. of State Clinton and the National Security Chief. I have to repeat: Iran/Contra anyone? Ollie North now respected? Hypocrisy?

You're wrong, Russell. This wasn't a tragedy. Tragedies can't be avoided. The Benghazi fiasco didn't have to happen. And when it did, Clinton's State Dept and Obama's UN ambassador tried to blame it on a video, all the while KNOWING it had nothing to do with it.

You're such a hypocrite, you have to try to resurrect Iran/Contra to justify this administration's bungling and coverup? Why stop there? Why not mention Watergate? Or Teapot Dome?
Truly lame attempt. But then, there really is no defense. They're just hoping the voters will have forgotten about it come 2016 and Hillary can say "this has already been addressed" (along with all the other scandals she was involved in during her husband's administration).

This attempt of the Republicans to crucify Obama over this Benghazi event really irks me to no end. I understand that 4 Americans were killed but why the need to prove that Obama and White House officials knew that it was a terrorist attack yet claimed that it was the result of a protest demonstration? I feel sorry for the families of the four Americans, but why is this such a hot-button issue when George W. Bush and his cabal of war criminals are personally responsible for the deaths of 6,777 U.S. servicemen and women, and nearly 125,000 Iraqis and countless Afghan civilians (some sources have these counts upwards of a million civilians dead)? No to mention the nearly 3,000 deaths that occurred on 9/11 (the jury is still out on who is responsible for that crime). We know the Bush administration lied about WMDs. We know they lied about the oil. Bush and Cheney never submitted to separate interviews under oath concerning the events of 9/11. I mean, seriously, people freaked out when they learned that Obama’s middle name is Hussein, yet they let the fact that Poppy Bush and his son were both business partners with Osama bin Laden go uninvestigated!

Because they lied, the President lied during an election cycle and that lie led to his re-election. You speak of the Bush Administration lies and the atrocities that came with it, yet it now appears that when the shoe is on the other foot, the lies of the current Administration is not that big of an issue. It's also know as hypocrisy. I would not want to be known as a hypocrite. Would you?

He/they turned on us in the heat of the blasphemous video uproar. This kind of thing has happened in Iraq and Afghanistan. This 10mil reward is either a coverup or the "sponsors" of the warlord or militia are playing along, in the hope that the furor will fade away.

You guys ever gonna give up on Benghazi? Blaming Americans for the death of Americans in a terrorist attack is pretty low... Having no evidence is even lower... Keeping it up when the evidence starts to turn against you is just rock bottom...

Which is lower, blaming Americans for dead Americans, or covering up mistakes by blaming an internet video for dead Americans?

Try reading the article. The reward has been in place, just not advertised in your local newspaper. The word is put out there in the proper channels that if you turn in the perpetrators, you will get the money.

I am surprised the right is not whining about the reward money as a government waste... I am sure the private enterprise was lining up to offer substantial inducement. If this money were ever paid it would almost certainly go to a greedy jihadist... I am sure that would not please our right wing friends either.

That's brilliant! I mean, when you're desperately seeking the public's help in catching criminals, you always offer the reward without publishing it, right?

Anyone else get the distinct impression Hillary's State Department has no intention of catching these guys?

Not like a $10 million reward will have any effect. Al Qaeda's #2 has had more than that on his head for more than a decade and no one's help catch him. These guys aren't going to be caught by someone else. They're going to get caught or killed by the U.S., and it's high time we start trying to find them.

And just how many jihadists the U.S. has had rewards out on have been captured by "professional bounty hunters", hmmm? Answer: 0.

Leroy, don't feed the trolls! Yakobi is a middle eastern trouble maker. Just here to stir up the americans. I ask this, why would the administration advertise this bounty in the U.S. ? Who here would be able to identify the perps? The ones that are here that could won't because they are with them. Think about it people.

And yet the most important question has yet to be answered. Why was there no immediate action taken upon learning the attack was taking place ? No attempt whatsoever was ever made that evening. Not a finger was lifted. Nothing, nada, zip. That's the $10m question.

If not, then, "opinionated" is stating opinion and, quite frankly, nothing disrespectful towards Hillary Clintong, unless you want to be proper and call her "Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton," though I have my doubts. I fully agree with "opinionated". So would you like to share, in your opinion, what was not respectful enough in the posting by "opinionated"?
