Navy launches drone from air craft carrier

An unmanned jet is catapulted from the deck of an aircraft carrier making naval history.  The bat-winged X-47B flew some pre-determined maneuvers before landing at a naval air station on shore.

The next milestone will be landing the prototype back on board the carrier.

The Navy eventually plans to build armed versions of the stealth plane which will give the Navy long range strike and reconnaissance capability without risking the lives of pilots.

Awsome now land it back on the carrier. This will extend the reach of the drone program. Less places for the animals to hide.

Another stupid comment from another ignorant, war loving, bloodthirsty Tea Partier! All these idiotic pro-war comments here do get old. I wonder if the bozo above ever finished grade school. There is neither glory nor honor in these obscene weapons as they slaughter people needlessly and are a disgrace to this nation of ours!

Funny coward....if you had a clue you might be dangerous. Finished school, did a tour in the Marine Corps, started college, then decided I would rather weld then get stuck in a office. Any other stupid questions?

Their is no honor or glory in killing but some times it is necessary to keep others safe. And it can be done by a drone rather then putting Americans at risk then thats the way to go.

Had some rain but thats about it nothing like Moore.

Best way to keep peace is be prepared for war. Theirs no point in being the world leader if you let everyone spit on you. No boots and even more deadly.

I think everyone here needs to re-evaluate why the U.S. has a military and why the U.S. has one of the best militaries in the world. There is a reason why the founding fathers of the United States put in Article I Section 8 "To provide and Maintain a Navy". Having a Navy is not an option – since we have a Navy shouldn't we have the very best Navy?

Another unimpressive Navy hack, ten years behind the times and way overpriced, the whole project was all about getting money into the coffers of the big contractors, the actual product is just a ruse.

"unimpressive Navy hack"? Have you ever tried to land a plane on 200 feet moving forward, up and down, and rotating sideways all at 100+mph? that is after you find the ship in the middle of the ocean.

It did not land on the air craft carrier :) But I agree with your point it is impressive now lets do it again cheaper

More tools so the unelected fools in the Pentagon, CIA and State Department can impose
    tyranny on people.

You wonder why they want to kill us?

the real dilemma with drones is that it is so easy to use them when one doesn't have to worry about putting our people at risk to pilot them.

Don't feel bad, George. I'm just as repulsed by this obscene development as you are! This is where all of our tax money goes! In the meantime, our schools will close, police and firemen will continue to get laid off while our infrastructure continues to deteriorate!

Thank you, Portland. I agree very strongly with both you and George above. These idiots here who disagree are a bunch of uneducated morons who never finished grade school in the first place! It's easy to like those monsters as long as you're not on the receiving end of them! Enough of this warmongering already!

Punnie boy that feces laden ingrate uses my name once again. I support the drone project as well and feel that making them capable of long range targeting is a good thing.

I did not make the above post, punnie boy did it, again, he is trying to make me look as dumb as he is. I strongly support expanding drone capabilities to carry larger bombs and missiles and periodically dropping them on towns hiding al qaeda terrorists.

I hope the drone is modified to carry extra large missiles !!! killing 5 here and 5 there doesn't make any sense, it is too expensive.
