Obama: 'North Korea has failed again'

By Gabriella Schwarz

President Barack Obama and South Korean President Park Geun-hye said Tuesday nuclear aggression from North Korea has further isolated the region and vowed to use all means to deter further provocations.

"If Pyongyang thought its recent threats would drive a wedge between South Korea and the United States or somehow garner the North international respect, today is further evidence that North Korea has failed again," Obama said during a joint press conference with the two leaders. "The United States and the Republic of Korea are as united as ever ... North Korea is more isolated than ever."

Obama said North Korea's manufactured crises will no long elicit concessions and committed to protecting the United States and its allies.

"The United States is fully prepared and capable of defending ourselves and our allies with the full range of capabilities available, including the deterrence provided by our conventional and nuclear forces," Obama said. "The commitment of the United States to the security of the Republic of Korea will never waver."

President Park, South Korea's first female president, said she will "by no means tolerate North Korea's threats and provocations, which have recently been escalating further."

UN is just postering military wise like his predecessors have done since the Korean war..Every time S.Korea and America do anything together the spoiled brat in UN,N Korea have historiy got their feathers ruffled and this miltary type saber rattling is just one in a series that's just annoying to anyone of simple intelligence..Just as I've stated before and its proven to work just in using the age old method of cold shouldering and its proven again that if UN doesn't get the attention he wants he'll just go back to his palace and cry himself to sleep..Remember UN has never encountered a hardship or anyone denying him of anything he wanted probibly in his entire life until now and he's learning he's just a boy in a big man's world!!

All of "Little Fat Boy's" threats and saber rattling was meant to extract ship loads of food and fuel from the US. His father successfully employed this tactic and got it! After the food and fuel arrived, all "promises" were broken.
Now, it is planting season. Fat Boy has to dispatch his military to the fields. If he doesn't, by autumn even Fat Boy will have nothing to eat!
It appears we got China's attention at last. China has been avoiding NK in the hope they would be saved from starvation by the US! Now that we have told China to fix this problem, the Chinese suddenly wake up! NK's blackmail is not going to work anymore. This creates a huge problem for China. Good luck China!

I agree, Stan. From what I hear, it appears that the North Koreans do need to reform unless it's just right-wing propaganda. However, it won't be the U.S. nor any of it's rubber stamp "allies that will save the North Koreans from starvation, it will be the Chinese, if anybody from the outside. Meanwhile, the North Koreans will have to step up agrarian production.

North Korea is dead wrong about wanting a nuclear war and president Obama is also dead wrong about saying that the North Koreans are 'wrong again'. That's asking for trouble Mr. President. Say thank goodness and leave it at that.

North Korea's leader is a coward. He puts out a fantasy video of North Koreans fighting in America and attacking Washington, but when they are challenged to cross the ocean with their entire army and attack America, they shut down their angry talk. When South Korea is asking the USA for nuclear warheads to defend themselves from North Korea, China becomes alarmed and yanks the leash around North Korea's neck and they shut up. Kim Jong Un made big mistakes because he cut himself off from steady income in Kaesong and now South Korea is getting more advanced weapons from the USA and is becoming stronger than ever.

      Saeed,
You may be an expert at quoting the Kuran, but that's all you know. You have a child's understanding of the military power held by the USA. North Korea's military effort is futile. Only North Koreans and you don't know that.

For all those of you who claim that Obama is some kind of "leftist" and not a right-wing thug like the others in Washington, then just read his right-wing, hateful speech above regarding North Korea! This Obama is only showing his stupidity as usual!

Well put, Joseph. However, I don't know whether Obama is a true right-winger or just an opportunist who just takes advantage of situations for his personal convenience. We need a President with moral principles which we haven't had since Carter left office in 1981.

Just seems like the way everyone talks is that U.S. is a country divided in its self.I just feel that the 2 party system needs to go the way of the Dodo.

@usmc1371,you and hopefully some posters here realize that we have ships, subs in areas right off S.Korea,N.Koreas coast line,so N Korea isn't really a threat as some of you fail to realize. And what is Pres.Obama going to do run his mouth like that ignorent Bush did always putting his foot in it publicly everytime something moved internationally..Remember too because of Bushs arrogence as well as ignorence Pres.Obamas had to mend fences with everyone that's ever been involved with Bush and you know it!!That's where Pres.Obamas diplomacy, cooth and intelligence comes in something republican presidents never possessed in setting up and retaining relationships internationally where republicans the unmannered war mongers of this earth have earned their nasty reputation as well always stepping on others countrys toes haven't they!!

Obama's definitely a leftist. Just because one is a war monger doesn't mean they aren't a leftist. Just look at Mao and Stalin. But you're right that Obama is acting like a thug in this instance. Making this statement just makes the situation worse. He needs to learn when to keep his mouth closed. This statement is just openly daring Kim to resume acting like an idiot and making threats again. Unless Obama is willing to do something that actually makes a difference in the situation, he should keep his mouth shut and just be thankful that Kim finally shut up for the moment.
