Kerry: U.S. will not accept North Korea as nuclear state

By Jethro Mullen and Chelsea J. Carter

The United States will not accept North Korea as a "nuclear state," Secretary of State John Kerry warned on Tuesday, just hours after Pyongyang announced plans to restart a nuclear reactor it shut down five years ago.

North Korea's decision comes as tensions on the Korean peninsula escalate over Kim Jong Un's threats to wage war against the United States and South Korea.

"The bottom line is simply that what Kim Jong Un is choosing to do is provocative. It is dangerous, reckless. The United States will not accept the DPRK (Democratic People's Republic of Korea) as a nuclear state," Kerry said during a joint briefing in Washington with South Korea Foreign Minister Yun Byung-se.

"And I reiterate again the United States will do what is necessary to defend ourselves and defend our allies, Korea and Japan. We are fully prepared and capable of doing so, and I think the DPRK understands that."

Negotiations? Negotiations? Seriously? All that is is code for giving North Korea more money, food, and aid every time they decide they want to throw a temper tantrum. Meanwhile, our economy is 17T in debt, growth is non-existent, and 50M of our own people are on food stamps. If I throw a temper tantrum and make threats, I get put in jail...not have the "option to enter into negotiations" to get what I want.

North Korea already is a 'nuclear state,' they have nuclear fuel and have exploded weapons grade material. So how can Kerry say that "the U.S. will not accept North Korea as a 'nuclear state,'" when they already are? Didn't the US already go through this with Russia during the cold war? The MADD concept stop anyone from dropping a nuclear bomb first, since they would be destroyed also. Would that not work with North Korea?

America is the root of all terror. America has invaded sixty countries since world war 2.
In 1953 America overthrow Iran's democratic government Mohammad Mosaddegh and installed a brutal dictator Shah. America helped Shah of Iran to establish secret police and killed thousands of Iranian people.
During Iran-Iraq war evil America supported Suddam Hossain and killed millions of Iranian people. In 1989, America, is the only country ever, shot down Iran's civilian air plane, killing 290 people.
In 2003,America invaded Iraq and killed 1,000,000+ innocent Iraqi people and 4,000,000+ Iraqi people were displaced.
Now America is a failed state with huge debt. Its debt will be 22 trillion by 2015.

I guess he had to say something, everyone knows we aren't going to actually do anything... At least not without the expressed written permission of the United Nations, and specific permission from Russia and China. They are too vested in North Korea to allow us to do what needs to be done unchecked. The term "Bellicose Rhetoric" comes to mind for some odd reason...

Here in lies the problem! No. Korea is the last of the old communist order. China and Russia still have not given up this ideology. China is still ruled by their communist party and Putin is rapidly seeking to return to what he thinks is "the good old days"! But times have changed! China profits from huge world trade, Russia profits from exporting gas to Western Europe. There is no "democracy" in either of these countries, there is no "rule of law" either. Laws are not pertanent to those in government service nor to those who got filthy rich stealing state assets and hiding their money abroad!
We, in the USA, should pay attention! Our own "system" is headed in the same direction. Now, Super Pacs can legally "buy" elections. This is the wrong path!!!
