Kerry says Iran must come clean on nuclear program

By Joe Sterling, Jessica Yellin and Holly Yan

Sen. John Kerry, the president's nominee for secretary of state, put America's anxiety over Iran front and center during his confirmation hearing, saying the "questions surrounding Iran's nuclear program" must be resolved.

"The president has made it definitive," Kerry told the Senate Foreign Relations Committee Thursday during what is expected to be an easy confirmation process.

"We will do what we must do to prevent Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon, and I repeat here today, our policy is not containment. It is prevention, and the clock is ticking on our efforts to secure responsible compliance."

Wow, always thought of this person as a person that could make sense. I guess not though.
What a preposterous statement from an American leader, the very same country, the only country that murdered millions with the use of the atomic bomb.
Can people please think before they speak?

Iran will continue to play us until it has nuclear weapons. Then Israel will tell us "I told you so."

Mr Kerry needs to demonstrate that he has a pair. Even though his emperor walks around with blinders on and his nose in the air, Mr Kerry just may have an inkling that the United States exists in a world somewhat different from the kumbayah world of "peaceful Muslim nations" that the delusional emperor thinks exists. Russia is becoming more belligerent, Iran is responsible for funding Islamic terrorism and China would like nothing better than to corner the world oil market. Mr. Kerry, if nominated, may actually have to do some work in his lifetime.

How could he be so sure he would win?
You House Leader let Obama get away with to much unethical Political issues. He already has grounds for Impeachment. Do something before it is to late..

North Korea is no threat to the USA! The real threat we face is China. China controls NK, supplies all components of their rockets and nuclear materials. NK cannot possibly create an ICBM on their own. China uses NK as their testing ground. China wouldn't dare build these things as this would completely stop their huge economic success. However, China is getting nervous. They depend on grabbing resources all over the world. It was easy for them as long as the US was fighting for them. This will not continue. Soon, China will have to fight for itself. Won't this be interesting

I guess because NK is threatening us we should bomb Iran. It is the same logic that Bush used to attack Iraq.

Israel come clean? You're kidding! Israel is rapidly losing credibility. Their only "ally" is all the US congressmen that they own. Yes, bought and paid for! Israel couldn't "buy off" Obama (thank God)!
It will be interesting what they try next! I hope Obama's SS guards are not bought, another assasination is surely not unforeseeable!

Well, pray tell, will John Kerry please explain how Iran can prove a negative? He sounds as illogical and simple-minded as Hillary.

Does that efforts to secure responsible compliance means the US can trust Iran?

America is the root of all terror. America has invaded sixty countries since world war 2.
In 1953 America overthrow Iran's democratic government Mohammad Mosaddegh and installed a brutal dictator Shah. America helped Shah of Iran to establish secret police and killed thousands of Iranian people.
During Iran-Iraq war evil America supported Suddam Hossain and killed millions of Iranian people. In 1989, America, is the only country ever, shot down Iran's civilian air plane, killing 290 people. ha ha ha
In 2003,America invaded Iraq and killed 1,000,000+ innocent Iraqi people and 4,000,000+ Iraqi people were displaced.
Now America is a failed state with huge debt. Its debt will be 22 trillion by 2015.

Hannah – Right on. We'd be in a very different world if we'd stuck to pursuing the Afghan war to the point of
clearing out Al-Qaeda there and had left Iraq alone. We'd still have had Saddam Hussein in power but we likely could have prevented him from massacring any more of his people and also from activating weapons of mass destruction. The inspectors were doing great work and had Saddam bottled up but Bush-Cheney and the neo-cons had been itching to invade Iraq for more than a decade and they snowed Congress and the American people into think it was the right thing to do. It was right, OK, far right. Six hundred thousand Iraqis dead later, and now with the U.S. stuck having (ridiculously) the largest U.S. embassy in the world, in Baghdad, and much simmering resentment toward us all over the Muslim world, well, here we are. It also broke the bank and was a major cause of the 2008-09 depression, to say nothing of the 4500 U.S. soldiers K.I.A. and over 30,000 wounded, some permanently disabled.
It was all done for the oil, many of us are roundly convinced. With preventing the Iraqis from activating w.m.d. and the prospect of introducing democracy in theMiddle East as the carrot on a stick waved under the nose of a fearful American public.

Not surprizing what Kerry says. Just more of imperial posturing with empty pockets, more spending of American taxpayer's money that we must borrow from Communist China so that they can buy our farms. Insane politics !
Someone needs to tell him that Iran already has the atomic bomb, that sanctions will accomplish nothing, just like in Cuba- the EU learned that quickly by paying higher gas prices. All this war mongering is for nothing -another VietNam, another Korea, another Iraq, another Afganistan, None of this to our benefit as a nation. JFK opposed the VietNam war and was killed. We are being lied to .
All this ado about AR -15 s based on Newtown Massacre ? Piers Morgan foaming at the mouth about AR-15 ? Guess what ? The rifle was not used by Lanza ,it was left in the car !He tried to buy a rifle but there is a waiting period in CT, he could not purchase one .See video.today.msnbc/today/50208495# it vanished from bing, so try google.

Hopefully, when Kerry is gone from Congress and in his new position he will see things differently. Iran is no threat to us, Iran only threatens Israel. Everyone in Congress is under the heavy influence of Israel's lobbyists. Obama, our president, and European heads of state all distrust Israel. This may change now that Bibi got cut down a notch or two by his own people in the recent election.

Unfortunetly your words are more true than most American citizens realize! Anyone ever hear of a Congressman proposing we cut foreign aid to Israel? Of course not! Congress would rather cut vital aid to our own citizens! Both parties are under very heavy influence of the Israeli lobbyists. Yes, you can say Israel owns us!

What lies? It is the U.S. that continuously lies about Iran. You have proof that Iran is building nukes? Do you mind presenting it?
