In attack aftermath, disagreement over how it began

By Adam Levine

As the investigation into the deadly attack on the U.S. diplomatic post in Benghazi, Libya, continues, there is disagreement about whether the violence was a result of a mob gone awry, a planned terror attack or a combination of the two.

The White House said Friday there was no indication before the attack in Libya this week that something was in the works beforehand.

"We were not aware of any actionable intelligence indicating that an attack on the U.S. mission in Benghazi was planned or imminent," presidential spokesman Jay Carney said.

The comment came as a top Libyan official and some within Congress and other aspects of the U.S. government said there are signs now that the attack on the consulate that killed the ambassador and three other Americans was not a spontaneous outgrowth of a mob angered by an anti-Muslim film.

A U.S. official told CNN's Suzanne Kelly that American intelligence was sufficiently concerned about the attention the movie was receiving online to warn the embassy in Egypt in a bulletin a few days before protesters stormed that compound in Cairo on Tuesday, the same day the consulate in Libya was attacked by armed militants.

The warning did not specify a threat and the source did not say if that intelligence bulletin was sent to American diplomats in Libya.

Several American officials have told CNN this week there was no intelligence in advance that there was a plot in the making. Some officials have said it does not appear it was a fully planned ahead of time.

But a senior U.S. official told CNN's Barbara Starr on Friday that while the United States is not ready to draw a conclusion about whether the attack was spontaneous or planned, there is some evidence pointing to the notion there was a level of organization and planning behind it, given the extensive nature of the attack.

Moreover, a congressional source told CNN's Suzanne Kelly on Friday that there is disagreement within the intelligence community over whether this was planned. When pressed individually, some analysts have hedged, according to the source.

The Libyan government believes the Benghazi attack was planned and intended to inflict maximum damage, a top Libyan official told CNN's Arwa Damon.

Mohammed al-Megaryef, the president of Libya's ruling General National Congress, said the attacks were carried out by extremists with the intent of driving apart Libyans and Americans and sabotaging the relationship.

The information points more to the attack having started as a spontaneous protest that lasted for hours before metastasizing into a more organized attack, according to Rep. Dutch Ruppersberger, D-Maryland.

Ruppersberger and other members of the House Intelligence Committee were briefed Friday by Central Intelligence Agency Director David Petraeus.

"In the beginning, we feel that it was spontaneous – the protest – because it went on for two or three hours, which very [is] relevant because if it was something that was planned then they could have come and attacked right away," Ruppersberger said.

Ruppersberger spoke to reporters after the briefing and said he believes the attack was by an al-Qaeda related extremist group.

Senator John McCain, R-Arizona, told reporters that in his opinion the incident was a terrorist attack, in part because of the use of rocket propelled grenades.

McCain, who had just left a briefing by Defense Secretary Leon Panetta to members of the Senate Armed Services Committee, observed the weaponry is not what a normal protester would bring to demonstrate, according to CNN's Kate Bolduan and Ted Barrett.

"It's hard to know exactly what took place and how long it was planned. I don't have that information," McCain said. "The reporting is that 15 people, with beards, with weapons, such as RPGs [rocket-propelled grenades] - people don't go to demonstrate and carry RPGs and automatic weapons. I mean, the facts on its face indicate this was not a mob action by a group of protesters."

"It was a terrorist attack, organized and carried out by terrorists," McCain said.

Armed Services Chairman Carl Levin said there are indications the attack was planned in advance.

"I think there's evidence of that. There's been evidence of that," Levin, D-Michigan, said after the Panetta briefing. "I don't think we know whether they were connecting it to the protests but the attack looked like it was planned and premeditated, sure. But I don't think there was evidence that it was a coming."

The top Democrat on the House Armed Services Committee agreed that while it does look like this was an organized attack, there was no indication the attack was coming.

"This was not just a mob that got out of hand. Mobs don't come in and attack, guns blazing," Rep. Adam Smith, D-Washington, in an interview with CNN." I think that there is a growing consensus it was preplanned, but please understand that is entirely different thing from saying we had intelligence about it. The people who did it, and it is looking increasingly like it was preplanned, we didn't have intelligence of their planning operation."

State Department Under Secretary Patrick Kennedy has said that the attack appeared to be planned because it was so extensive and because of the "proliferation" of small and medium weapons at the scene, a congressional source said earlier. He was briefing congressional staffers earlier this week when he offered that theory.

The chairman of the House Intelligence Committee said earlier this week that it was a targeted attack.

"It is - it was clearly a coordinated attack, a well-coordinated attack, I might add, that was specifically planned to do and accomplish what you saw unfortunately unfold in Benghazi," said Rep. Mike Rogers, R-Michigan, in an interview on CNN's Situation Room.

But on Friday, Rogers' spokeswoman said that the congressman was making his own conclusion from what he had been told in briefings.

"The evidence that Congressman Rogers has seen does not definitively say one way or another whether the attack was planned or not," said Susan Phalen, the communications director for the intelligence panel. "But as a former FBI agent, this seems to make the most sense to him."

Given what officials know about al Qaeda in Libya, intelligence officials believe it is very unlikely that core al Qaeda was behind the attack, a U.S. intelligence official told CNN on condition of anonymity. But the official said the intelligence does not rule out that the attack was perpetrated by al Qaeda sympathizers, though officials are not ready to identify a specific group.

"In Libya there are many elements, including al-Qaeda. I think it's pretty clear that they would have had some involvement but again whether it was after the fact, whether there was a spontaneous demonstration that they tried to take advantage of, again all this is still very fluid," said the House Homeland Security Committee Chairman Peter King, R-New York.

There is a continuing question as to whether a message from al Qaeda's leader Ayman al-Zawahiri was influential in spurning the attack.

His specific call in a 9/11-anniversary video for Libyan Jihadists to attack Americans to avenge death of Abu Yahya al Libi was circulating at least 18 hours before the attack on the compound, according to terror analyst Ben Venzke of IntelCenter, leaving open the possibility that it played a role.

But Venzke told CNN terror analyst Paul Cruickshank that given the timing, it is hard to believe the message from Zawahiri instigated the attack in Libya.

"Based on more than a decade of threat analysis we have carried out, it would be unusual to have such a rapid correlation between a threat statement and an attack, but it is not outside the realm of possibility," Venzke said.

He said any statement of the kind made by Zawahiri would be taken seriously. However he said those providing threat assessments would not normally expect anything to happen within 24 hours.

He stressed Zawahiri's threat was only three lines in a forty something minute video tape. Given the language in the tape, analysts would tend not to have concluded an immediate attack was likely.

With such "Dark Age" culture still in existence in India how can the world be healthy and the neighbors prosperous. India poses a grave danger to the world and its deities and leaders set a bad example. Mahatma Gandhi, a pedophile, needs to be exposed and tried posthumously for his child molestation crimes just like the Penn State crowd Sandusky et al. Gandhi's statutes need to be knocked down everywhere they have been put in USA. The hindu deities need to be shattered and trashed. Disgusting figurines of ugly and scary looking characters with demonic personalities. How can hindu children grow up mentally stable looking at such atrocious representations of evil in its most heinous form.

You are too busy banging your sisters and daughters. Goddess Panchali was married to five brothers. Which one would become the legitimate father of his child should she have one? Dr Charles (renowned author and an authority on India) says that instances of incest are common in Hindu scriptures.

Bizarre Health Rituals in India Show Dangerous Side of Tradition

In what has got to be on of the most vile and disturbing things ever put to print, a man in eastern India was arrested for his unconventional and downright insane method of curing the common cold in children.
50-year old Jamun Yadav, who considers himself to be a demigod of the Hindu faith, believes he can channel and transfer divine energy through his feet, which has lead to him standing on the necks and throats of young children suffering from your average run-of-the-mill cold.
When asked about them, the guru claimed that he was merely speaking for God, and as such needs no other defense.
It serves as a grim reminder of the dangerous religious traditions observed by many Hindus in India, many of which are done so for the health of their children. One such ritual involves throwing infants off of a fifty foot tower, a tradition thought to bring good health and luck to the child throughout his or her life.

As an American Muslim I was and still am outraged at the sheer evil and Heinousness of this movie," Innocence of Muslims," which was put out defaming, insulting, and degrading the character of Holy Last Messenger Muhammad (peace and blessing of Almighty God be upon him). Innocent Americans lives overseas have been lost due to this movie. I believe that Google and Youtube have an obligation to remove and/or band Innocence of Muslims from being seen, this offensive movie was made with the express purpose to incite hatred and disharmony between Muslims and Christians around the world. I also feel that the author of the movie should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law for placing American lives in danger.

I think all forms of Christians should take the high road. Proclaim themselves the one true form of religion, and put out the following message.

We outgun you Muslims by population alone say 5-1.
We have nuclear weapons too, and plenty of them.
We have planes, ships, weapons, and billions in soldiers.

You insult the known..ONE TRUE God, and his son in living flesh Jesus Christ, we will extinguish your existence in every corner of the world, or bury you alive in your caves where you hide as children.

That's called fairness. If you're going to INSULT our religion and way of life, then expect to pay the consequences.

ARE HINDUS UBER TERRORISTS OR WHAT???? Forget the GDP, focus on these murder statistics.
In India, millions of girls are strangled, slowly starved or simply tossed in the trash. Moreover, in India, at least 1,370 girls are aborted every day. As a comparison, some 250 Indians die every day in road accidents. Terrorists killed about six people, on an average, every day in 2009. In the last two decades of economic progress, 10 million girls have died as such in India.
SHAME ON INDIA AND ITS BARBARIC AND MEDIEVAL CULTURE !!!

"Amnesty International is calling for an impartial investigation into mass graves found in Indian-controlled Kashmir. Sunday, India's Jammu and Kashmir State Human Rights Commission released a report saying a three-year investigation had uncovered 2,156 unidentified bodies in 38 sites in the region. In a statement released Monday, Amnesty International asked Indian officials to allow impartial forensic experts to carry out a thorough investigation of the skeletal remains. The rights group also urged Indian authorities to ensure the safety of the witnesses who gave statements to police during the investigation. Indian authorities conducted the inquiry in response to allegations that Indian security forces have committed rights abuses in fighting a more than two-decade-long Muslim separatist insurgency. Rights activists say at least 8,000 people have gone missing in Indian Kashmir since the separatists began fighting in 1989 for independence from Hindu-majority India or a merger with Muslim-majority Pakistan. Rebel attacks and Indian government crackdowns have killed at least 50,000 people

What really pleasantly surprised me was what I witnessed in the Middle East. A tolerant and progressive Islamic society that has come so far in a few years. Most importantly providing job and economic opportunities to all, Hindus/Indians, Jews, Christians, Muslims, Europeans, Americans, Africans, South Americans, Chinese, and Russians etc. Never have I witnessed such openness and equal opportunities unless you go back to the times of Muslim rule in India and Spain. My conclusion is that the Muslims get it. They are striving to once again take their leadership role in the world order and take this civilization to its next level of excellence. The climb to success and progress is not a linear curve but a stochastic one. Let us join in wishing our Muslim brethren well and much success in their endeavors. If we can't help them let's not pull the rug from under them.

As others are withering away the Muslims seem to be rising again with their contributions as was the case historically when they ruled India and Europe and left behind a legacy of science, art, architecture, culinary et al. One only needs to go to Spain and India to witness this.

Respectfully, you know these countries could bomb the protesters to dust, so what you consider 'weakness' is in fact 'trying to do the most reasonable thing' in the face of unreasonable people.

By DESIRING a separation between the west and the children of Islam, you are denying these children opportunities and joy. These demonstrations make kind, generous people in the west think really horrible thoughts about the majority of Islam. The riots and murders and destruction is doing FAR MORE damage than that really badly made film ever could. And.. you are helping that horrible misperception of Islam grow.

Stop it, you are hurting the children of Libya, Tunisia, Egypt who JUST GOT a new world because of the Arab Spring.

This will all blow over that the goverments will start getting control over these newly installed elected leaders. Don't panic.

Richard Engel of NBC was helpful in pointing out that there were only about 2000 demonstrators in the Cairo incident yesterday. Most news outlets ignored that and left it up to the viewer an impression of a large bunch of people and thusly making it more significant than it really was.

Mr. Romney's advisors have put out noise that these riots would not have happened under him as president which is absurd. He shows the same carelessness and lack of knowledge of foreign affairs as the previous Republican ex-President GW Bush. The man is too dangerous and loose mouthed to be president.

To all Media and Public viewing outlets

All praise is due to Allah The supreme being creator of all. It is He who sent His Prophets and Messengers to teach man and jinn the truth about their Lord The most High. He is the same One who sent Abraham, Moses, Solomon, Jesus and His last final prophet Muhammad (peace and blessing be upon him).
We are exercising our right as Americans requesting respectively that the horrendous film filled with hatred and disrespect tilted “Innocence of Muslims” be removed and Banned from all viewing outlets. Let the record reflect, had this been done to any other religion we would be responding in the same manner. After all the hard work we have done and are doing here in our country and around the world this film is truly a set back to our mission of continued peace love and unity.
We Americans have been seeking and propagating World Peace and Unity for all Mankind the family of God. This film is an outrage that seeks to set back all that we have accomplished here in the USA and abroad. The “makers of this film” are directly responsible for the loss of our four American soldiers and endangering the lives of our families who are working and reestablishing American relationships in Muslim countries.

We are in the process of electing a President here in the USA. With hopes that we can move forward and progress for the betterment of our American people. We are struggling here in the US due our unstable economy and senseless wars we have been fighting. At the same time, most of the American people here in the US have been burnt out mentally due to the Islamaphobia propaganda.

Let there be no mistake that we know who the culprits are. They are the same evil forces that conspired to Kill Jesus son of Mary. On the same note these are the very same people that defame Mary mother of Jesus and Hager mother of Ismail (peace be upon them both). As it is told to us these people are the enemy of God and they will never stop attacking the believers be you Muslim, Hebrew or Christian. We as a striving community of believers have been taught by our sufi master to band together with the people of the book to establish once again world Peace. As far as the movie is concerned which seeks to defame our beloved Holy Last Messenger Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) we want it banned from viewers worldwide.
Hollywood started this Islamic hatred in their films during the early 80’s of depicting Muslims as bad people. It has been some years ago that they tried to do a movie defaming Jesus but the outcry of believers put an end to the movie. Over the years movies, media and now independent small movie makers are following in the footsteps of their big brothers trying to cause a clash of religions. As God fearing Americans and patriots of this country we will not stand by and let the enemies of mankind disrupt our mission of peace, love, freedom and equality that our forefathers fought so hard to establish in this country. Freedom and tolerance for all religions in this country is what we Americans believe in. These are the same principles and values that are being taken to other countries to establish democracy and tolerance for all.
My deepest regards go to the families who lost their love ones and I hope and pray that we as one world community of believers be you, Muslim, Christian, Jews, Hindus etc.. Come together and put a stop to the killing of innocent people.
P.S. And Yes ,there is a difference between freedom of speech and freedom of disrespect.

The film is not the crime (even if it was horridly made). Burning buildings, killing people IS a crime.

You as a commentator must not blame this film for the violence, any more than I would blame sports illustrated's swimsuit edition for a 'rape'. You are very subtly saying 'it is ok to kill people when they say things I don't like".

Whats worse, the USA has NOTHING to do with this film. The men that died had NOTHING to do with this film. The world is watching as Islamic followers do really stupid acts of violence against innocent people. And YOU come on here and are mad about... the film? The film? making Islam look bad?

Shame on you. These rioters are making your faith look like violent uninformed people not worth caring about. That will hurt these lovely nations and the children just being born there.

Wrong, Burning buildings and killing people if a crime to the West. To Islam it is justified though jihad... The problem with this religious zealotry is that someone is pulling the strings. That string puller claims that his strings are being pulled by god. So everyone blindly follows what that person says because they believe it is at the behest of god. Another major factor is that there are a WHOLE LOT of young men with little money and virtually no room for social mobility. So instead of having the ability to determine their destiny from a variety of options, they have only a few options. I must sympathize with liberal views in this aspect. Socioeconomic despair is a major factor in psychology. These kids find it very hard to live with meaning when there is little meaning they can apply to their lives. Koran is kinda like the only option for many...

INDIA: Between two Deities: KALI & PANCHALI

The problem with India is that is built on a system of cultural and societal values based on Hinduism which is a cult. Nations built on a cult seldom survive in the long run. Now just take a look at these two Hindu goddesses and the destruction and lack of morality they represent.

Goddess Kali's statue stands naked astride the inanimate body of the Hindu deity Shiva, tongue stuck out with blood dripping from fang-like teeth. She holds a noose, a skull-topped staff, a blood-encrusted sword and a severed head. Disgusting, to say the least. Would you want your kids growing up with such inspiration?

Meanwhile, goddess Panchali was married to five brothers. Which one would become the legitimate father of his child should she have one? Dr Charles (renowned author and an authority on India) says that instances of incest are common in Hindu scriptures. Decadent ! Immoral !

Talk about being between a terrorist and a hard tramp!!

Do some research before you criticize other religions. The image of kali is a pictorial representation of a message. One of its meaning is when people get angry, they forget there own peace and step over it. A picture says a thousand words. Only fools like you are too stupid to understand what the images actually mean. U r fool just like those people who criticize islam without doing proper research. Even when Prophet was insulted and spat on during his time, he showed compassion to those people who attacked him. And now u so called "muslims" show hated just because someone made a stupid film. What a shame. Read the Quran properly and understand what it is trying to say. Don't take it literally and follow it blindly. Understand it and analyze it. U r a human, for Allah's sake, so act like one and use your brain.

ONE CAN ONLY IMAGINE HOW COLORFUL A MOVIE COULD BE ON THIS TOPIC........

HINDU KALI – GODDESS OF VIOLENCE/TERRORISM

A recent report by United Press trust of India (UPI) stated that during the past three years more than 2,500 young boys and girls were sacrificed to goddess Kali in India. Another of AFP's recent reports say: hundreds of young boys and virgin girls are sacrificed every month for the deity Kali. In one case Rama Sewak hacked his eight year old son to death in broad daylight in Delhi because goddess Kali had told him he would come back to life and bring him good fortune. Bloodthirsty Kali is worshipped openly the length and breadth of India. Kali's statue stands naked astride the inanimate body of the Hindu deity Shiva, tongue stuck out with blood dripping from fang-like teeth. She holds a noose, a skull-topped staff, a blood-encrusted sword and a severed head. She is also known as Durga, Devi, Shaktima, Uma and Parvathi in other manifestations. The priest of Delhi, Kali Bari, says that a child sacrificed to Kali ensures a man the birth of a son. Human sacrifices are also made to these gods or goddesses, either to appease them or to ask favours of them.

In act we follow his teachings more so then some others who wear the name Christian. this movie is inflamitory and made to cause just this kind of blood shed . I hope that you as a Muslim will understand that in the U.S. people have the right to say disrespectful thoughts about religion. This is a legal right. I would encourage you to tell other Muslims of this. It doesn't mean that our nation agrees with any of what is said. Now I don't think that Muslims should take such offense at these rants and just ignore it if you don't agree with it.

Georgex – I don’t understand then why is that the newspapers or other media outlets including CNN, in the US and the western world are not allowed to provide the holocaust deniers a forum for their views? Why not exercise freedom of speech and a fundamental lack of tolerance in this matter?

Being neutral it’s just a simple question which came to my mind so it can’t be an emotional one, you being judgmental seems not fair.
Even if someone considers “Holocast deniers are deniers of history and reality” that is still one groups perception and
it’s not the question of rational right? this is all about freedom of speech! it should not have any boundaries then including this right?

you are wrong. I've seen many holocaust deniers on several news outlets. I listen even to people I disagree with. Ex: Iranian Pres. Ahmadinejad (who was on C-Span, I believe) had an interesting point:

In WWII Europeans killed many other Europeans, many were Jews. The Europeans and Americans decided to solve this European wrongdoing by making a new nation (Israel) in the Middle East. This obviously had some.. negative.. side effects.

My funny thought, but what if a large population of GERMANY were displaced to make a new Jewish nation as reparation in 1946?

Just a fun thought. I'm not anti-Semitic but like the Israeli college kids I talked to in New York, I very much disagree with the Israeli government on many issues.

I am a proud Muslim and a proud American. You can’t image how sad I am that my fellow Americans don’t understand how a film like “The innocence of Muslims” is insulting and repulsive. As Americans we have many rights, freedom of speech being one, but where do we draw the line? This movie has no historical background, and simply no respect. A move like this has a clear agenda to propagate anti-Islamic hate and break up any hope of interfaith unity.

We as Muslims hold our Prophet (on him be peace) in the highest esteem. The innocence of Muslims has insulted Muslims to the core by insulting what we love dearest.

My father served in the air force to defend this country and it’s beliefs, my uncles served in Vietnam for this country and it’s beliefs, all of whom were Muslims. Where is the defense of their beliefs?

THIS MOVIE SHOULD BE BAN from all media outlets immediately. It has caused nothing but pain and violence since its release and nothing good can come from it.

He maliciously fabricated lies against The Holy Last Messenger ( Peace be Upon Him), whom Muslims hold in the highest esteem. The negative effect that the film sort out to achieve has been accomplished by inciting the Muslim world. Rebel attacks and Indian government crackdowns have killed at least 50,000 people.

It is no secret that Hitler and his Nazi cronies sought inspiration from Indian extremist groups including the branding of his Nazi Party by adopting the Swastika, a traditionally Hindu symbol and representation of Hindu god Ganesha, as its marketing tool. The thesis being that like the Norwegian massacre, the Jewish holocaust orchestrated by Hitler was inspired by the inherently violent cult of Indian Hindus and the manifesto of its then extremist/terrorist groups still in existence today. These groups are now the successors to and carrying out the vision of Al Qaeda all over the world albeit in a clandestine manner.

( I was thinking maybe the people were being played by anarchists )

The idea that a film seen by so few would cause people to go ballistic globally was quite illogical .

Al-Qaida is just using it to work their plan .
Al-Qaida is the mental black plague that will tank any chance of civilization in those countries BUT

The USA must leave those people to choose their own fate .
Paradise cannot be forced and if they choose a dung heap life style , then they do .

I agree that Obama is an absolute pathological liar, as it Clinton, but that is certainly not true of all Democrats. I believe that most Democrats are perfectly normal people who want the best for themselves, their families and their country. They are being misled by the mainstream media which has relentlessly promoted Obama and tries to cover up for him now.
I began posting comments about the specific threats to Benghazi on CNN when it began to be revealed in the media in the UK and in Germany, as well as by officials from those countries who said that they warned Obama and US intelligence. I read more than CNN and MSNBC which are just propaganda these days. I got heaps of vile abuse from Obama supporters. It is coming out now, those attacks on that very vulnerable embassy building in the months of June, July and August, yet Clinton and Obama did nothing to protect the staff, not one American guarded it. Obama and Clinton, like Debbie Wasserman Schulz, lie, lie, lie with a straight face and the greatest sincerity. They are liars.

Brandenburg v. Ohio is a Supreme Court case that demonstrates the level or extent to freedom of speech. It clearly notes that speech directed to inciting or likely to incite is not protected under freedom of speech. This video should not only be taken down but also denounced by the participants and actors of "freedom" or "freedom of speech" . We need not stand up separate as Muslim, Christian, or Jew. We need to stand and protect the rights of others as we would like our rights to be protected. For companies that make a living off of free speech i.e Google, Facebook, and YouTube, it should be in their best interest to protected it as well.

Obama is unfit for office. He does not even attend regularly scheduled Intel Security briefings, which Obama and the White House insist are not important, like Jay Carney insisting that these are not attacks against America.... ridiculous. Obama attended less than 60% of all Intel security meetings, which are scheduled so that the president can discuss security issues with experts. Not important for Obama, who started his re-election campaign two years ago. He is an absolute failure.

The film did not cause violence, extremists caused violence. The problem is that extremists were given a tool with that film to foment violence. If more Muslims took responsibility to keep their extremist counterparts under control, these things would not happen. America is holding the film maker partially responsible, but the majority of the responsibility is on the Islamic community. You can not allow your people to burn flags, curse Jews and Christians, then expect everyone else to submit when they are being just as disrespectful. U.S. citizens do not like to see their flag being burned....

Less than 2 dozen people saw the film and low attendance closed it .

Civilized people reject the ugly by shunning it , UNcivilized people have violent tantrums and kill over it .

People rioting and killing over a film suggest the people are too primitive to manage themselves in a democracy .

While disrespecting any religion is wrong, Muslims need to understand that other faiths have been subject to mockery for hundreds of years. Currently movies, broadway musicals, and cartoon depictions of Prophets and Deity of other faiths are mocked every day.

Do yu see these faiths rioting worldwide because of this daily mockery?

Most Muslims are kind and reasonably thinking people, but for the few to blame a movie as an excuse for murder and rioting is completely wrong and quite frankly an excuse for deplorable behavior. As a fellow Muslim you should be able to reasonably recognize this.

I am also are saddened by all of the violence that this horrific, insulting and blasphemous movie has sparked which should be removed on this alone.

Any educated person can see and knows that this film was not based on factual information and history but was concocted falsely interlocking lies with the blessed Last Messenger and other Islamic heros. This film was clearly an attempt to cause disunity between Christians and Muslims and incite violence between people and nations.

Muslims do not defame any of the Messengers of God nor any other religion. We should likewise be respected in the same way. We strongly demand that this blasphemous film be removed immediately from public viewing mediums.

My belief in the existence of the New World Order centers around the activities, actions and writings of the members of the elite (mostly Anglo-American) inside the international banking cartel – which of course includes the Rockefeller and Rothschild families – over roughly the last century.

This cartel, through their financing of two World Wars; the revolutions of Lenin/Stalin and Hitler, among others; the creation of the IMF, World Bank and other private "central banks" like the Federal Reserve and the Bank of England; as well as their backing of international organizations like the United Nations, World Health Organization, World Trade Organization has sought to control not only the purse strings of the governments of the world, but also the policies, laws and programs that those governments and agencies implement.

I would put the blame also to some musllim Clerics inciting their people to get angry and even violent or cause death or harm to innocent people. The Clerics need to promote to them to be civil and a peaceful protest. Nothing good comes out from doing bad to what was already bad.

Sure there is some blame to put on the film makers, probably 20%. The other 80% blame is thanks to the extremists that think everyone should submit to Islamic will. They burn flags, slander Jews and Christians, but when some idiot comes along and makes a movie they don't like they get all bent out of shape. Get over yourselves.

The film maker is responsible for his own actions, the US in general is not responsible for his actions. These extremists can not lash out at Americans because of the actions of those people, just as Americans can not lash out at Muslims because of those people. Unfortunately, I doubt that the American people will turn the other cheek if this continues. If Americans are killed due to terrorists, Americans will lash out. It is just a matter of time...

All during this summer! If not "actionable" intelligence than at least get some proper defense! You know, like Marines perhaps? And why is it that CNN is not reporting any of this? Talk radio is the only one who continues to mix the two together because if they admit the attack by Al Qeada is a seperate incident then it cannot be blamed on Obama who has killed more Al Qeada leaders in 4 years than Bush did in 8.

The Holy Last Messenger (PBUH) was sent to the world as a blessing and came with a universal message for all people. Whereas all the previous Prophets came to a particular group of people even Jesus son of Mary spoke of his (sas) coming. Even the Encyclopedia Britannica has named the Holy Last Messenger (PBUH) as the best man to come to this earth. And people all over the world are still embracing Islam. I am a convert to Islam and all of my family are Christian, which I love and respect very much and would never harm. Nor does Islam allow this. The Holy Quran gives explanation and honors Jesus son of Mary and His mother Mary. It is due to the ignorance of people and the enemies of mankind trying to defame otherwise. After reading the articles that were printed about the movie on You Tube, I am outraged and disgusted about all the false propaganda that has been levied against Islam and the Holy Last Messenger Muhammad (PBUH) which are lies and falsehood. It is amazing that we never hear of any Muslim speaking about any prophet that God has sent to mankind in a bad and horrible manner. And as an American citizen of the United States I am calling on all God fearing people to unite and make those responsible who have published this horrific movie to bring about discord and disunity and to destroy our way of life here in America.

I am writing this to say that I am outraged that Muslims in the Middle East are killing innocent Americans over a film that an idiot made in his basement. I am however not surprised it has happened. Most muslims are not apologetic for their violent counterparts, they merely ignore them because they know that they are not the target of their wrath. Muslims can complain about the Mohammad film, but it never justifies murder. Many Muslims in the middle east know exactly who the extremists are in their community, but do nothing to stop them. Then when those extremists murder people, it is somehow the fault of the West's freedom of expression.

so far there have been protests in Egypt, Libya,Yemen,Tunisia, and Sudan... If this is not a fundamentalist Islamic uprising against Western values, then I do not know what to call it. Cnn never reported Tunisia btw..

No Americans were killed over a movie (yet). The American killed by Al Qadea on 9-11 at the consulate have nothing to do with any movie.

You are an imbecile if you believe they are uprising against "Western values". They are uprising against a purposeful assault on their values. When I was a stupid 8 year old I once poked a stick into a hornet's nest just to see what came out, that is exactly what these movie makers have done.

And anyone claiming freedom of speech doesn't even know the laws of the United States (Mitt Romney and other Republicans). Incitement to riot is NOT protected speech in this country, these people who poke the hornets know what the end results will be yet they continue to poke. If this is not inciting riots I do not know what is and they should be prosecuted since some of those riots were on U.S. soil at our embassies.

I understand what your saying, and I said the same thing not to long ago. Yes the makers of the film incited violence, but extremists are in control of their own actions. Your comparison is not comparable because these people are not insects. They are people that are behaving irrationally.

I think you draw the line when you distinguish between something that is critical yet insightful with something that is intentionally insulting and degrading. Theo van Gogh criticized women in Islam, this film intentionally attacked Islam itself. Islam has is virtues, and shortcomings just like any other religion. Being critical of the religions shortcomings is not being unreasonable, slandering the religions entirely is.

These people obviously do not know how to control themselves, so their leaders need to take control of the situation. They are obviously are against Western rights of self expression when that right is being exorcizes against their wishes. I do not doubt that they ignore it when their cohorts degrade Judaism and Christianity. They need to recognize that fairness means everyone can do it, not just Islam.

Honor thy neighbor....If we believe and follow the first greatest commandment (Love God with all thy heart, soul..) the second greatest would be second nature. The devil hates mankind and his friends aid him by causing conflict; especially between the lovers of Jesus son of Mary (Gods peace be upon him) and those who love Muhammad Mustafa (Gods peace be upon him). Lets not be fooled by this divide and conquer game. Broadcast media and all show respect for yourself by following the real "Rules of Conduct" and become a medium for uniting mankind for the sake of your own soul.

This movie innocence of Muslims has not one iota of truth behind it, if anyone were to check the facts they would know that. For a person to have so much hatred in there heart and very being that they are willing to spread lies just to see what kind of rise they can get is disgusting and shameful. Anyone who airs this movie should be ashamed, and is in fact welcoming hatred and separatism and is promoting a lie. YouTube and Google should remove any traces of this from there sights. We are hoping for a better future for the next generation. How can we have that if we support lies? I urge u for the future and peace of this world. THIS MOVIE NEEDS TO BE BAND!

    Dear Broadcasting Media,
I am writing this letter to voice my utmost anger and disgust with the airing of the movie Innocence of Muslims on your website. This movie is nothing but propaganda and lies to tear apart and defame the Muslim community. It was a shameful, horrific, and blasphemous act for those who created the movie. To constantly endorse it by NOT removing it from your website, allowing people to view it continuously, making vile disgusting comments is unacceptable! Muslims are a peace loving people who value and take pride in their religion. We uphold all that is good and righteous. We follow the way of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). Attacking him and his way of life is inhumane and monstrous. We do not attack other faiths with derogatory verbiage nor do we denigrate them by telling vicious, harmful lies. We love Jesus son of Mary and have much respect for him as we do all the other Prophets of God. The main goal of this movie was to create anarchy, destroy Muslim and Christian unity, and endorse hatred for Al- Islam. America is the land of all faiths and practices. The making and broadcasting of this film is not practicing freedom of speech (the first amendment) but sickening fabrications and malice against our way of life. It’s not acceptable to continuously degrade and assault Al-Islam for we are American citizens who also have rights to the first amendment (freedom of religion.). We strongly condemn the propagators of falsehood and misguidance. This movie does NOT depict Al-Islam or the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) in accuracy or reality. This film should no longer be endorsed but immediately removed from all media factions.

Sir, you are subtly taking the side of rioters around the world that broke real laws and hurt real people, burning down buildings. The movie was bad (I mean, really horridly made, regardless of content) and isn't worth the attention.

You, condemning it, adn worse, 'media' is outwardly asking the world to bend to the will of you, vs you allowing your pride to accept anything thrown at it. You seem a good man, so how does this bad movie on the internet really hurt you?

Really, honestly, no one cared about this movie, but now average people see Islamic men and women burning down building, murdering men, over a really bad film. Yous ay Islam is a religion of peace, and it is, but even when Christians blew up abortion clinics, we ARREST THEM. TRY THEM, and put them in jail. You should ask the same be done to the law breakers rioting.

These rioters are hurting the perception of your religion FAR MORE than that really bad film ever could. Demand they be arrested and held accountable.

As a Muslim I find the content of this movie to be highly offensive and flagrantly disrespectful to the character of Prophet Muhammad (peace is upon him) and the religion of Islam. The film is so blatantly over the top with falsehoods and defamatory content, that there can only be two reasons for its production; to incite violence and hatred, and to create animosity between Muslims and Christians.
As an American I am proud to say I live in a country that upholds freedom of religion and basic fundamental rights, yet I am outraged that the law is not being upheld to maintain these. I am disturbed by the level of disharmony this movie has caused around the world. I see the promotion of this Islamophobic movie as an act of nothing less than terrorism which has led to further acts of terrorism. The fanatics who are responsible for its production and promotion deserve to be publicly condemned.
And furthermore Google and YouTube should be condemned as well for not removing the movie and allowing the hate and violence to spread.

Honestly, the people who made this movie DESERVE be be ignored, not condemned. It is a bad, bad movie. Horrid acting, production, writing. The internet is full of offensive things to everyone, and in the USA, I will work HARD to protect the right of people to say ANYTHING non-violent, even if I disagree.

Think of it this way, the Arab Spring is amazing. how much earlier would that have happened with better and more open criticism of the governments? Can open communication further Arab economic growth, while not (in ANy way) harm its religions?

So, respectfully, you need to grow a thicker skin and not be offended. Not spend the time condemning. Just ignore a guy who made a 'troll' film and go call your mom (She misses you).

I am writing in response to the airing of the movie “The Innocence of Muslims” defaming and insulting the life and practices of our beloved Holy Last Messenger (peace be upon him). This movie goes beyond being blasphemous in its depiction of the Holy Last Messenger (peace be upon him) and his teaching of Al-Islam. Its intention is clearly to insight the riot and violence that it has and to cause great strains on the Muslim/Christian unity that is clearly to take place. This movie is based on nothing but lies and falsehood and has NO evidence of truth whatsoever. It is a travesty and an outrage and is full of nothing but ill intent!

As Muslims we respect the great religions as taught by the Holy Last Messenger (peace be upon him) and do not make any effort or intention to defame or ridicule any of its prophets as they are loved prophets of Islam as well.

It is my hope as a Muslim and American citizen that the rights of religious freedom and beliefs will be upheld and the outlets hosting the viewing of this horrendous film will be encouraged to remove it from their venues immediately!

I think the movie IS a really badly made film, but Mohammed did do some things the modern world would find objectionable. Ex: Aisha, his wife, was six or seven years old when she was betrothed to Muhammad and nine when the marriage was consummated.

This doesn't say the prophet was a 'pedophile' but it is historically accurate according to my closest Islamic friends (who shared the story over some delicious halal food).

We should openly discuss all aspects of all religions, nothing held back, while RESPECTING the individuals we are talking with. All governments (even the US and Israel!), all religions and political movements should be openly discussed, and that includes criticism. It makes the world stronger. Think: The Arab Spring.

      Blessing to you.

In response to the recent Film that was an attempt to destroy Muslims and Christians peaceful coexistence I am outraged .The Film contained baseless facts and lies and was made with malice. We as Muslims love and revere Jesus very much and the World must know this. We would never say such horrendous things about him or his blessed Mother Mary. This Film was made to incite hatred amongst our Christian Brothers and Sisters in the United States and abroad. I plead with my Christian Brothers and Sisters don’t yield to these ploys and attempts to cause discord and hatred between us. We are peace loving People and we desire peace with our Brothers and Sisters as we are all Children of Adam. We condemn any violent actions taken by anyone and want our fellow Christian Brothers and Sisters to do the same. We must unite for the whole of Humanity and save ourselves from the evil of those who wish to cause violence and bloodshed this in itself is a crime. “Innocence of Muslims” a Film that is all lies and is aimed to deceive the masses and as always using the Media to spew hatred amongst the Children of Adam.

It doesn't matter how the attack came about. Bottomline is there was LAX SECURITY at the embassy compound. Is this what's happening at all U.S. Embassies worldwide? Just four ex-navy SEALS as security details? I love and admire these guys but everybody think they have 9 LIVES? The U.S. is newcomer in Libya that makes even compelling about security.

I applaud the courage of the Libyan people to go out on the street to protest the embassy attack. They want the world to know they condemn this act. I wish the rest of the Arab world would do the same. Its the sensible thing to do. Those of you Arab radicals why don't you get the guy who made the movie disrespecting your religion. Of course he and you the Arab radicals have one thing in common and that is you no religious intolerance.

In the name God The Most Beneficent , The Most Merciful.

As a Muslim, a father, a son and an American! I cannot sit Idly by while the fabric of peace is once again attacked by those with secret agendas to cause a clash of Civilizations. There are no two faiths closer than Islam and Christianity! I am writing this with a sad heart and a sick stomach due to the offensive, insidious, repugnant, insulting and divisive movie, "Innocence of Muslims" that rests within Youtubes and other public outlets servers. This movie is created to incite violence and hatred between Muslims and Christians. Muslims world wide would never insult or joke of Jesus son of Mary due to our deep love and respect for him and his Blessed Mother (Peace be upon them both). This same respect is given to the Holy Last Messenger (Peace and Blessing be upon Him) by many Christians in America and around the world. This movie is a direct attack on Muslim and Christian unity the world over. Youtube and all public outlets need to remove this filth from its systems immediately! This movie violates not only Human decency, but it also violates Youtubes Community guidelines. What positive gain does one receive from spreading falsehood and decadence against the Holy Last Messenger (Peace be upon him)? The Mercy to All the Worlds? There is none! There is only the the pain and sadness of a Lovers heart that cries out to his Creator for help in easing his plight. Muslims along with Christians know that Jesus Son of Mary is the second to the Last Messenger of Islam. Jesus' teachings and The Holy Last Messengers teachings do not disagree with each other at all. So, to insult one Messenger of God is to insult the all of the Messengers. While Satan used his minions to cause dissension, confusion and hate. Christians and Muslims will come together to denounce all purveyors and enablers of hate and violence. No one should sit by while this false, disgusting and baseless movie continues to air for the the world to see. My grandmother is a Faithful Christian and if she saw this putrid movie she would CONDEMN IT! I pray she never has the unfortunate opportunity to ever see or hear about this work of the devil! I CONDEMN THIS MOVIE! I CONDEMN THIS MOVIE! I CONDEMN THIS MOVIE!

how about condemning violence? None of the islamic community apparently understands that freedom to criticise is a cherished right in western society, all they understand, apparently, is violence and insanity. It doesnt matter what this movie said, violence that is encouraged and tolerated by a crazy religion IS the only problem here. The movie is irrelevant. If not the movie then what? A stray comment on some website somewhere? These people are INSANE.

        I agree Ryan,

Violence in response to ANY YouTube video is inexcusable. Period. Worst case I can think of is a child being raped. Even THEN, you find the bad guy, and put him on trial. You do not attack innocent civilians who had nothing to do with the events in the video. This is what is happening around the world.

And, honestly, I watched the whole video and it is one of the worst videos ever made. Just horrible production, writing, acting, overdubbing to include different words than the actors actually said, just bad. REALLY not worth watching, let alone this reaction. The rioting people are looking for a reason to be mad, and they had to look really hard to find it.

And although I know this will raise ire, I believe it is important to OPENLY criticize any political party, government, or religion, while dong your best to respect the people in these organizations. Looking at the atrocities in Israel, the Catholic church, and yes, Islam, the way to stop it is not to wish it away, or be afraid of it, but to shine a bright light in its face and bring the law breakers to justice.

'i made a video! vs 'we burnt down buildings, and burned people to death all over the world!'. This will not be tolerated in this world, and honestly threatens the future of the children in the countries where these riots are occurring.

        September 16, 2012 at 2:58 am |
      • Ryan Cameron

again, if the muslim community came out in strong support of this person's *right* to criticize and then used *words* to condemn the video only, but made it clear that anyone should be allowed to openly criticize islam without fear of physical violence, I'd be impressed. Instead, what I have seen is the general Muslim response to call for the banning of the video, and a lot of blaming the video itself for the violence. This response proves that Muslims are inherently violent, and support violence when it comes to people being critical in any way of their holy book/prophet.

You seem like a very decent man and I honestly have no wish to offend you. My concern is that this culture of violent reaction to very )very) tiny insults is going to hurt really large and important things. Frankly, the internet will get more inflammatory over time, and the cultures around the world will need to grow a thicker skin. At this point, people less RESPECT Islam, than FEAR it. And we you know people, when they fear something, tolerate it, work around it, but if it gets bad, they destroy it. I've traveled the world. Was married in an Islamic country, had lovely conversations with women in burkas, and know all the best Halal food places to eat with my Islamic friends. But even you need a thicker skin, my friend. And as a moderate, you need to help the extremists come to a better place, as I will try as well.

America has invaded sixty countries since world war 2.

In 1953, America overthrow Iran's democratic government and installed a brutal dictator Shah of Iran. America helped Shah to established secret police and killed hundreds of thousands of Iranians.

During Iran-Iraq war, America helped Saddam Hussein and killed one million Iranians. America is the only country that shot down Iran's civilian air plain and killed all 290 passengers.

In 2003, America invaded Iraq and killed 1,000,000+ innocent Iraqi people and displaced 4,000,000+ Iraqi people.
Now, America is a failed country with huge debt. Its debt will be 24 trillion by 2015.

Every other day a city in America is declaring bankruptcy. ha ha ha ha ha ha

Judging by the things you said it would seem to be a very bad idea to be an enemy of the United States. Try being a friend and bad things do not happen. You also left out the part about how America gives more money and people to humanitarian efforts than the entire rest of the world combined, lots of it even goes to our enemies. And what people from other countries fail to realize when they hear news of economic issues in the United States is that the poor here still have enough to be considered rich in much of the world. A bankrupt U.S. city still has more than most countries and the USA's national debt has very little to do with it's economic status compared to the rest of the world. Trillions in debt and we could still buy out any country in the world and several entire continents.

These are supposed professionals and well educated US representatives at these embassies. Any normal citizen would have understood things could get bad quickly because of this film. In fact, many saw the anger coming. So, why didn't the embassy leaders give credible weight to the warning days before? These "leaders" have done this for 15 years now – either start reacting professionally, or do prison time at the demand of Americans for stupidity, endangerment, and negligence.

The Egyptian dictator is dead and we now have a Democratically elected government in place. The Libyan dictator is dead and there also we have a democratically elected government in place. Iif we go back in time this is exactly what the Repubs wanted but since Obama helped make it happen it's all of a sudden bad policy and they wish the dictators were back. Odd how trillions of dollars and thousands of American lives is a fine bargain to get rid of a dictator in Iraq but four lives and some broken embassy windows creates a talk radio/Fox News fervor that last for weeks.

Certainly, the facts here are still very much in question. Who knew what and when – if anything. Not unlike the questions asked about GWB's administration on whether it had credible intelligence of the 9/11 attacks – debatable – or whether Ronald Reagan had intelligence in advance of the Beirut terrorist attacks in 1983 that killed 241 Marines – and he most certainly did, from his own Defense Secretary, no less. With this consulate attack, additional facts and conclusions will eventually be known.
