If they don't have arms, they would get slaughtered by their own government! Condi is right about this. When your own government is killing you, it's your duty to be a rebel! Furthermore, the US is not doing any of this, the posts I have seen here only reveal stupid people without a clue as to what is going on, yet have no problem voicing stupid opinions.

Syria's current leadership has lost all credibility with the exception of their Iranian supporters, to do nothing is to allow Iran to win.

Ronald Reagan had the same issue on his plate (Insurgents trying to over throw the government) and the Afghans requested help from the Russian, That lead to [Operation Cyclone] which was when the C.I.A armed and trained Mujaheddin, The key player in the C.I.As deck at the time was Osama Bin Laden, He helped push the Russians out of Afghanistan, The U.S.S.R collapsed after that. America was out of enemies for the time being . Osama then turned the Mujahedin into who we call "Al-Qaeda" who then starts committing attacks in
      -Egypt
      -Algeria
Half of the Middle Eastern government was thrown into disarray in his conquest to create a "Unified Muslim country"
however some of the people didn't like that due to how their lives were already, In response he deemed them all "Viable Targets" Bush Senior enters office and the U.S is deployed to fight Saddam for Saudi Arabia. Osama then got enraged at that and began essentially talking down to them and he was banished from there and is forced to move into he mountains of Afghanistan which lead to him declaring Jihad on ALL Americans and her allies, September 11 happens and the U.S enters a long war in 2 main front Iraq and Afghanistan.

Now let me ask you, Would arming a rebel faction be wise considering the outcome of the past?

  5. Joe from CT, not Lieberman

Doctor Rice, didn't you also buy into Dick Cheney's manufactured "intelligence" about Iraq's WMDs? That's what I thought. So, that being the case, what gives you the gravitas to pontificate about arming insurgents? Can you imagine the look on Bibi Netenyahu's face if he hears we have "armed" an alternative Syrian Army? If the Rebels manage to overthrow Assad and set themselves up as the new government, do you believe they will return what we sent them so as not to upset Israel?

"The Syrian rebels must be armed"! What can one expect from a black right-wing bimbo like Condolezza Rice? We're already doing that, throwing away millions of U.S. tax dollars in the process! This is revolting!

...and death to Pluto. yea, yea. Remember Saeed, during that same time frame Allah oversaw the killing of hundreds, perhaps thousands of Muslim men, boys, grandfathers, women, babies, retirees, grandmothers, teenagers, flower peddlers, nurses, cab drivers, men named Saeed, etc. etc.

I agree, saeed. The Australians must be completely out of their minds for sending troops to Afghanistan just to please the right-wing thugs in Washington D.C. Those bozoes didn't die for their country either!!! This is sheer stupidity on the part of the Assies!
