Cleanup at Iran's Parchin site?

From CNN's Jennifer Rizzo

New satellite images of an Iranian military base indicate Iranian efforts to cover evidence of a nuclear weapons program, according to a Washington-based think tank.

The DigitalGlobe images, obtained by the Institute for Science and International Security, were taken last week of Iran's Parchin military base, where international inspectors suspect Iran may have conducted explosives tests connected with a possible nuclear weapons program.

Two small buildings at the suspected testing site have been destroyed. Tracks made by heavy machinery supposedly used in the demolition are visible, according to the institute's analysis.

Wide view image of the suspected high explosive testing site showing extensive evidence of earth displacement activity.

The group says suspected cleanup activity was also seen in satellite images from April. The two buildings were intact in the previous images.

"The newest image raises concerns that Iran is attempting to raze the site prior to allowing an IAEA visit," said the report. "The razing of the two buildings may also indicate that Iran has no intention to allow inspectors access soon."

The International Atomic Energy Agency has requested access to the site, which the Iranians have so far denied. In a letter sent to Iran in May, the agency expressed concern that extensive activity observed in "buildings of interest" could hamper the inspection process.

Cleanup at Iran's Parchin site, we already know that they are sneaky people. They want a bomb. When you get a bomb everyone will put up with you, because no one wants to go to war.

I'm a bit suspicious of this. First of all, blog post. Second of all, "Washington based think tank" conveniently omits what sort of think tank, which actually makes me trust it less than I would if it said "conservative think tank." Third, no link to the actual report. Fourth, it seems the most damning accusation is that it's on a military base. Which definitely isn't where we developed our test reactors. We did that in Manhattan, right?

Still, something to think about. I'd like to see this confirmed or dismissed by Panetta.

Israel is the only country to commit crimes against the US, between them and Iran.

Israel attacked the USS Liberty for an HOUR, killing 30 brave sailors.

This new virus is fitting, seeing how the nation it hails from is itself, a virus. Israel controls the US, as you would a puppet…

Pretty interesting stuff there Indra, and 90% seems true enough but what's sad about all this is that the highest echelons of the US government cannot do much about it and that is also a fact! We'v gone far too deep to cut off the link to Israel, it would be the end of us if we do. I know most of you who are linked to this subject tangibly might be laughing already.

      What a load of crap!
USS Liberty was concluded to be a case of mistaken identity 45 YEARS AGO, but is still being used today by Islamists and other hate mongers like Indra here to try and prove that Israel is USA's enemy. What a load of BS. Why don't we talk about 9/11? Who attacked the US there?
The rest is pure conspiracy theories and insinuation.
Jews in the American administration is a problem? Jews are some of the smartest, most educated people on this planet, and always achieved high positions in every organization and government they were involved with. To say it's some sort of a Zionist conspiracy is pure hate talk.
Last time I checked Israel is a friendly democratic nation and never attacked anyone unless it was attacked first.
Islamists and Arabs however created 9/11. No conspiracy theory can change that.
Why don't we talk about the barbaric crimes against humanity being committed RIGHT NOW in Syria and Iran?
Indra refers to his "Comrades" here. Is he a communist or an Islamic hate monger. I can't tell...

The conclusion of mistaken identity is fallacious. Unless Israel was in the business of hiring blind, retarded fighter pilots and torpedo gunners, it strains credulity. It's like mistaking a merchant marine frigate for an American aircraft carrier.

        May 31, 2012 at 7:59 am |
      • ALMONDBUTTER

Fallacious? Really? Were you part of the two independent inquiries, one led by the US which concluded that? And you have some new evidence to refute the 45 year old investigations?
And what could possibly be the motive of Israel to attack a friendly ship? No, It makes total sense that this was a very tragic mistake, perhaps the Liberty was thought to be an enemy ship disguised as an America ship, one of many tragic friendly fire incidents which happen in wars (this one during the war of 1967 which was started by the Arabs).
Israel has not only apologized but also compensated the families of the fallen, always trying to do the right thing.

Even if Iran did have nukes (which there isn't a single shred of credible evidence to suggest they do) would they be stupid enough to nuke a country with hundreds or thousands of more advanced nukes (assuming they have a delivery system which they don't)? I am more concerned about Israel's hundreds of real confirmed nukes than I am about Iran's fairy tale nuke.

I dont know what to believe on this one. The Institute for Science and International Security has a lot of dirt on India and Israel. Seems like they are doing a lot of wheeling and dealing in selling and buying nuclear technologies. I wouldnt suprise me if Iran got some of their know how to build a bomb from Israeli middle-men. CNN is defenitely doing one-side reporting. They should of also mention the countries violating laws against exporting nuclear weapon technologies. Check out there website and look at the who the donars are.

"where international inspectors suspect Iran may have conducted explosives tests connected with a possible nuclear weapons program."

Well at least this sounds credible enough. "suspect" "may" "possible" or... totally legit and innocuous conventional weapons facility. I think there are more than a few sites (Area 51 for example) the US would be hesitant to allow any international inspectors access to. As someone noted this is pretty obviously propaganda and not hard news.

Iran is just as bad as Israel. Their support of terrorists like Hezbollah are right along side the efforts of Israel in Turkey and Iran. I clearly remember the summer of 2006 when the IAEA starting pressuring Iran on its nuclear program and at the direction of Iran, Hezbollah starting to lob rockets into Israel to divert the world away from the "attention" they were getting...what was the result? The killing of thousands of Lebanese civilians, Iran knowing full well the reprocussions of their directed actions. In addition, I've seen the reports of verified Iranian manufactured explosive material utilized in IEDs used by insurgents in Iraq to kill not only U.S. military servicemembers but thousands of Iraqi civlians, and it still goes on today. So no, they're not better, just Persian instead of Jewish.

If anyone is playing us it is the Saudis. Saudis committed the 9-11 attacks. Saudis provided the false information which led to the invasion of Iraq. Fight the real enemy.

No crime from Iran eh? Listen Vlad, it seems to me you either have a selective memory or you've been drinking too much vodka tonight and have forgotten the Iranians held 52 Americans hostage for 444 days in 1979-81. A crime that violated centuries-old international law granting diplomats immunity from arrest and mistreatment in a foreign country. So which one is it? The vodka?
