From Jill Dougherty
U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton reiterated Washington's position on a wide array of subjects during an interview Tuesday with CNN in New Delhi.
Clinton spoke about Chen Guangcheng, the Chinese activist at the center of a recent diplomatic storm between the United States and China.

Chen was sentenced in 2006 to four years and three months in prison for "damaging property and organizing a mob to disturb traffic," charges that his supporters maintain were trumped up by the authorities to punish his legal advocacy for victims of what he called abusive family-planning policies, including forced abortions and sterilization.
Recently, Chen has said he wants to come to the United States. He has been in a hospital bed in Beijing, where he is undergoing medical examinations and treatment after escaping more than 18 months of house arrest in eastern China some two weeks ago.
"We're looking forward to welcoming him to the United States," Clinton said in New Delhi. "We remain in close contact with him. We know that Chinese officials have visited him in the hospital. ... We're doing the same in order to prepare the way so that he can come here and pursue his studies."On India and Iran oil imports:
Clinton applauded India's efforts to reduce its imports of Iranian oil but urged it to cut them further to keep pressure on Tehran over its nuclear program.
Security Clearance: Covering military, intelligence, terrorism and diplomacy
"India has reduced its dependence on Iranian oil. I know their refineries have stopped asking for orders to purchase Iranian oil. So they certainly have taken steps," Clinton said. "India shares exactly our goal; their goal is our goal, and that is to prevent Iran from becoming a nuclear weapons nation."
The United States and other Western countries are using economic pressure on Iran, particularly on its oil industry, to try to push Tehran into halting its nuclear program. They have encouraged Asian countries such as India, Japan and South Korea - key consumers of Iranian oil - to cut back their purchases.
On France and new president:
Clinton said the United States is eager to talk to French President-elect François Hollande, who beat out incumbent Nicolas Sarkozy on Sunday.
"There's a lot of anticipation on the part of our government, and I think our nation, because France is our oldest ally we have a deep long and enduring relationship with France," Clinton said. "So until we've had to chance to actually consult and hear his views and have a chance to express our own, we're going to be waiting eagerly to do that."
On Joe Biden's comments about 2016:
Clinton also responded to a question about Vice President Joe Biden's recent comments about teaming up with Clinton for a 2016 presidential run.
Clinton was noncommittal.
"We've been friends for a long time. We're on the same team," Clinton said. "We've been on the same team in the Senate; we're on the same time now with President Obama. No matter what I do in the future I'd love to have Joe be on the team because he is a great and effective person who cares deeply about our country."

Just cut through the fashion nonsense and tell us what Hillary's done to save the world today. I <3 our Secretary of State, and think she would be one hell of a great President.
Because most women who are really good lonoikg and hot don’t have to go to work to make money. They can use their good looks to get married to wealthy men who pay their way. That's how it works today here in America. The fugly women are successful because they actually have to work to make money. So they’re successful to make up for their ugliness. This may sound really mean and crude, but it's the way things are in America. Sad, but true.Women try to get with the weathiest men and men try to get with the most attractive women.
I think Hilary looks just fine. Obviously this article was written by a wanna-be fashionista. Hilary looks pretty good for not wearing makeup at age 65 or whatever. More power to her!
I think she looks great and good for her! Why should women have to put on a painted face before they can contribute to the world? Shes a smart and attractive woman..with or without makeup.
I agree. I don't know why women ever wear makeup. They don't necessarily look better with it, just different. In fact, some women show more beauty and confidence without it. With or without makeup Hillary is beautiful, sexy, and tough and it's great to see mature women being recognized for those attributes. Plus, she's a damned good Secretary of State.
Thanks, Liam! It's nice to know there are still some men in this world who are not misogynists. If you were here in person, I'd give you a big hug!
"au naturale" ????? Honestly??? If you want to use a little French, you ought to have studied a little French, or at least check with someone who has....what is passing for "journalism" on the internet is downright embarrassing! PS: Hillary would certainly know that the expression is "au naturel" because she is smarter than just about everyone you know and that is why she upsets you all so much!
You are right on!!!.....It is so refreshing to see someone who has reached an age (same age as me) especially a woman who is so intelligent that she leaves the men around her with nothing to talk about except her looks, who cares she says, hats off to you Hillary!......You go girl!!!!
You are pretty with and without makeup and glasses! I've seen may other women the same age as you and they look much older. You go HIllary!
Queen Willamena has lowered herself, finally acquiesced to fraction of the reality she's combated for years. Celulite and pork chop jawls have a bearing on National Interest, you know.
Hilleray.. just eat the apples core too.. And give up the MacDeath Fastfood (read ALL reaturant food). We know you well .005% of the time... so we love you anyway.
If I were you I be living large on Government paid for retirement farm.
..But I give you "click" up... You are beginning to realize what a joke "womens" fards" are.
..so sorry. you've not enough time to learn the substance of humanity (as 51% of America)..
Ahh! What it must be like to be a 'footnote".
Give my regaurds to Mike Huckabee...
T. Sawyer.
Brings to mind an old adgae, "you can put lipstick on a pig, but it's still a pig".
If you put lipstick on a pig, what do you get? A tea party drag queen.
Beards are au natural as well. I suppose all you liberals would be just fine if Obama grew a beard and a fro because he was fine with it. Few people remember that the Clinton administration was one of the most scandal plagued in history. Monica, Whitewater, Travelgate, Pardons of felons, just to name a few. And remember how they were carting away White House furniture owned by the people as they left. No, didn't think so! Hillary was known to be very nasty to White House staff. The trouble with too many people, especially liberals. Short memories with a very poor understanding of government and the economy.
Beautifully stated. As a figurehead of America, she has really let herself go. She portrays us poorly. I concur also with your insights regarding liberals. But they don't need to understand effective governance and economics. The do-gooder elite are all about power, shepherding their downtrodden bottom-half-of-the-bell-curve core constituents taking from some to disperse to others in exchange for votes. Hillary understands this well.
After Monica Lewisnsky, what self-respecting woman would stay will Bill Clinton? Alas, their marriage is a charade of political expedience. Hillary Clinton will endure any humiliation to retain the reins of power.
I'm no fan of Hillary's politics, but, bravo to her doing this. Women should never feel like they have to cover themselves with makeup. They are beautiful just the way they are.
Hillary is going for the Golda Maier look. It's the only way she will have any foot note in history except for being the wife of an unfaithful, lying president.
Since she's a lousy secretary of state, I find it unrealistic to fantasize she'd be effective as president.
Well, Being married to a sitting president doesn't qualify you. Although she would have an easier time with the clearances having being vetted before and a standing associated clearance to that level that is given to livin relatives.
12 more Years!!! Go Hillary!
Heard yesterday that clinton is giving up politics , made my day!, Will she be tried and convicted of war crimes and crimes against humainty that she is guilty of. I doubt it., These inhumane people think that they can get away with whatever they want. They support genocidial regimes and apartheid regimes nato is the true evil empire of the modern world!
Compared to Darth Cheney? What are you smoking?
He got reprimanded by the press for thgnis he said in SC but he has made statements that he will tone it down. The media is dead set against the Clinton's. They will twist anything they say into something hateful. Everything the Democratic party does, they blame on the Clinton's. They are squarely behind Obama. He can do no wrong in their eyes. They are biased and openly admit it.
Clinton means Bill Clinton. He's still the heaviest hitter in the DNC. This is just his door mat.
Biden is this generations Quayle.
not even close – Vice President Biden is intelligent
Quayle's slips in grammar pale in comparison to Biden's 'foot in the mouth' slips in intelligence! Sorry Hillary but you're no Palin!
Ricky, comparing Palin's "intelligence" and to Hlilary Clinton", just proved you have none.
I detest Hillary. But she's not a moron – even I can admit this. But to suggest that she's dumber than Palin? Wow. You truly (and there's plenty of competition) have to be the stupidest, most asinine and imbecilic load your crack-whore mother should've swallowed, piece of shit in the entire world.
Please, don't breed. Seriously.
Yeah – during the last election, my husband noticed that Palin was "really hot" – then continued that "hot" was not a qualification for any office and voted for Obama. Romney is also good looking but also thinks our biggest enemy is Russia. Lookin' ain't doin'. GObama.
As to Hillary ruining for President in 2016 she says, "I'd love to have Joe be on the team ""
That quite different from saying she would like to be on Joe's team. Hillary for President, and Joe being just VP again?
Josh, yes, the issue is whether Hillary will run for the office of President of the USA. Why are you unable to grasp that? Hillary knows the game, the players and has a well established track record of getting things done. She is an excellent candidate. She is also someone who forges partnerships instead of polarizing everything like the current administrations. Biden, in comparison, has a very narrow record because he doesn't have the same amount of experience. Accession to the Presidency is merit-based, not based on gender or time served as vice-pres.
Like the other guy said, "She's just Bill's door mat."
Bill's doormat? Possibly the most effective secretary of state since Dulles and you think WHAT? Of course, you are a Republican and we know you don't respect women, but still.
Can't you cut the woman some slack? I remember who it was knocking her legs and/or pant suits. It was the Obama-lovers. How much better off would you be now if Hillary was elected. A lot I'll bet.
“Indeed, You are right Mr. President. Government is made of people, linvig people .. let them know they are also government . (Recollecting what you have said on the 65 th day of your rule)It is going to do its role, and then we got to make sure that our communities do their role as well So this is a correct appeal you have made to the American conscience.. Kudos, Obama!” …

Hilary has it right.
Hillary, I thought you looked just fine without makeup. You set a great example for women by going au naturelle. And I'm not a democrat.
Maxine, can't you comment on what Hillary has accomplished instead of what she looks like? Thanks for sending all women back to 1950.
Sorry, I don't see it that way. I may not agree with what she accomplished and I'm not addressing that here. I do applaud her for having the guts to go without makeup when society judges everyone by the cover. This isn't taking women back to the 1950's. She's showing women they can be natural AND smart. Expecting women to wake up every day, to put on a ton of makeup to look like fashion models to go out in public is taking women back to the 1950's, IMHO. We are fine the way we are. We are smart and brainy without makeup. That's the 2012 woman.
After disintegration of USSR now probably China is in line of fire and Helry Clinton's dictations are like a smoke before the fire.
Second most ineffective Sec State ever, right behind Madelaine Albright.
Executive summary of interview: "We're gleeful a fellow socialist was elected in France. Now Germany will dump the bailout plan and the EU will fail, the stock markets will crash, and Keynesian economics will again be shown to be foolhardiness, but that'll be after Obama's re election. And with a sixteen trillion dollar debt, we're in no position to lecture China on human rights. And I've done nothing to stop North Korean or Iranian WMD proliferation, either, but I've attended alot of great cocktail parties."
Surprised you had time to get off your Rush Limbaugh worship altar to write anything here.
Typical leftist response. When your emotion knee jerk bluster fails, resort to ad hominem name-calling.
How about some facts? List for me, please, Hillary Clinton's accomplishments as Secretary of State.
Her failure to get Iran and North Korea to desist from pursuit of nuclear weapons, failure to stop the russians flowing weapons to Assad's slaughter of tens of thousands of innocents in Syra, failure to manage the Arab Spring thereby replacing friendly regimes with loon jihadists all come to mind.
So, please, her accomplishmnets, not your bland conclusory worship statement, "She's great, you listen to Limbaugh..."
The Wall Street Journal's Market Watch ran a report this week titled, "Obama spending binge never happened," which showed that federal spending is actually rising at the slowest pace since Dwight Eisenhower was president. At the same time, we've made strategic investments in the things we need to build an economy meant to last, like education, innovation, and clean energy. But that hasn't stopped Romney and his Republican allies from using ridiculous and laughable terms - like "spending inferno" - to describe the President's fiscal management. Please note that is a quote and the WSJ, owned by Murdoch, doesn't have a liberal bias.
Michelle Obama and Hillary in 2016
We would be blessed to have President Michelle!!!!
and by "blessed" you of course mean: screwed. Yep screwed, screwed, and then screwed some more. Screwed to the left, screwed to the right. screwed backwards and forwards and everywhere in between.
What would be Michelle's qualifications. Oh, that's right. Her husband had equal qualifications. She is just better looking. Hillary yes, but Michelle? Take off the race blinders, girl.
No Way, we had enough of the Obamas
I feel sorry for her. Certainly now, after her losing but cnosiderable effort, she would rather do anything other than get up in front of God and everyone in her Sunday best and sing the praises of her vanquisher. But you're right, if Obama loses—and I believe at this point that he's going to lose—she stands to lose more than she ever could in a mere national primary race.Do I have Helsinki Syndrome or what?yours/peter.
I agree with Chris MObama and Hillary in 2016!
Hillary as prez and Michelle as veep!
Snookie and patrick (from spongebob), democrat ticket 2016. That's about equivalent collective brain power as Obama and Biden.
Any word on Bradley Manning?
Will they give him the Nobel Peace Prize?
he is toast. he is lucky that they bother to follow due process. Not that they really have to any more.
Where would this woman be without her husband.
Makes you wonder what kind of people thought Sarah Palin was competent doesn't it? Hahahahahahaha
The only people that thought Sarah Palin was competent were her neighbors from the trailer park.
Right you are palintwit!!! Right you are. Hahahahahahahaha
Smart people, unlike blathering idiots like yourself. Why don't you google her accomplishments in Alaska instead of relying solely on the left wing media that unjustly trashes her.
She pull u In n out......living la vida loca, living la vida loca
India will certainly try her best to prevent Iran from becoming a nuclear weapons nation.
Meanwhile United States may do India a favour by “de-clawing” Pakistan by grabbing its nuclear arsenal, as unless Pakistan enjoyed U.S. patronage in past, India by herself was quite able to prevent the rouge terrorist nation from obtaining nuclear weapons.
Sayan.
India is as good as a dump field.
India's a fucking toilet.
