Is Syria's president a war criminal?

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton wouldn't label Syrian President Bashar al-Assad a war criminal in an interview with CNN's Wolf Blitzer Wednesday.  (Click play above to watch the discussion Wolf Blitzer had with Clinton and Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta)

"We really don't want to be labeling what we see which are clearly disproportionate use of force, human rights abuses, absolutely merciless shelling with heavy weaponry into unarmed civilian areas, even shelling across borders now in Turkey and Lebanon," Clinton said in the exclusive interview that aired on CNN's Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer.

The Obama administration has been reluctant so far to make the accusation.

The Secretary did say that evidence should be collected so that in the future there could be accountability for the actions.

More of the exclusive interview will air Thursday on Situation Room at 4pET.

Thanks for posting. I wonder what would happen if you did background screening on all the political players that are the main figures today!? Probably some surprising results :)

Should I add Mrs. Clinton to a war criminal list, she seems so anxious to label others. She is definately a warmonger and if that results in deaths , she is an accessory to a murder. as a lawyer , I wonder if she knows that. If her husband could steal money from the elderly , she can do murder. Billy is a war criminal so she needs to look closer to home if she is looking for war criminals.

Assad is not a war criminal , but Obama is for fighting a proxy war in Syria , as one American general put it. Assad is a president of a sovereign nation that is defending a legitimate government. We are meddling in his affairs by sending cutthroats to kill his people. France is guilty, too. I hear the government of Syria is holding Foreign Legion ( French ) soldiers , about 100 of them. How did they get there ? The endless propaganda from our media is to keep us in endless wars , just like the propaganda that sent our troops to slaughter Iraquis on a lie.
Bush and his cohorts are war criminals , but not much about it in our 'news " paid for by the oligarchs that get rich on wars.

Theater, a staged propaganda production, the actors have a scripted outline as NO ONE or Anyone dares ask a question of Any Executive Branch Head that has not beee preapproved. It is not the network that innitiates an interview but the Executive Branch. CNN, as does all the major visual, audio, and Print media sources, Firstly of course is to generate a profit a nd Secondly is to generate a Profit, and Profit means that the term FREE PRESS has no more meaning than asking a PRACTING WAR CRIMINAL IF HER OPPONENT IS FIGHTING FAIR. The Executive Branch wants to get a message of Propaganda out not to the world at large but to manipulate public opinion to justify ITSELF. What better way than to have a man, who has been created to gain the public trust, help those in power, while generating a profit? @At risk of being permantly being booted* Make no mistake of thinkig Blitzer or any News Anchors are anythig more than Actors, being paid to play a role.

    ARE BUSH/CHENEY WAR CRIMINALS???

No declaration of war was ever made. No congressional approval was given.

If your looking for a pack of criminals, look no farther than AIPAC.
