Well said Buzzer but this is not the topic that we are discussing. Right now we can see a conflict escalation and horrendous scenes of people dying. I am not much of a religious person and not any interest of which side wins. The reality is that civilian people is dying (men, women, elderly, and children) and we must act to stop the bloodshed. If a government cannot defend (or attack) their own citizens, it has not legitimacy, The international community must act NOW. If our children, family and friends were on the same situation, we would like that other people will come to our help. Let's place ourselves in their situation...

When do these "assaults" occur on Gaza? How about following indiscrimate rocket attacks against Israeli civilians on neighboring Israeli towns or when a suicide bomber blows up an Israeli cafe or bus. Once the assaults start, are they just against the first innocent civilians the IDF finds when they go in? How about against the specific indiviudals or groups of indiviudual that committed the attacks, or against specific Hamas members/leadership RESPONSIBLE for ordering said attacks. To be CLEAR I'm not defending Israel's "ethnic cleansing" policy of forcibly driving Palestinians off land that they've lived on for generations to include killing Palestinian civilians in the process of removing them...this policy is absolutely wrong and the Israelis are unjustified by their actions and are irrational that their actions would not produce "blow back". BUT you specifically need to step back and realize certain people within the Palestinian population (Hamas primarily) are just as GUILTY with their actions...because they are indequately equipped militarily to stand toe-to-toe with the IDF they resort to murdering defenseless Israeli citizens in a warped idea that they are "fighting back" against the government of Israel and its policies. How has this tactic "worked out"? The Israeli government has just dug their heels in and solidified the Israeli population to "hold firm and fight back". In the process, innocent Palestinian civilians suffer. Who gives a CRAP about "discussing history" in an attempt to portray the other side as the "victim" in this conflict...the history is so complex and both side are so guilty, neither side is EVER going to come out a clear winner in the court of public opinion. Is there a solution? No until both sides are willing to compromise and those people are not in control right now.
